OK, I have to start out by saying my 3 favorite restaurants in all of WDW are, in order:
1. Chefs de France
2. Jiko
3. Boma
This past Sunday we were at Animal Kingdom and decided to try Tusker House. Now, I've heard from multiple sources that not only is Tusker House good, but it's very comparable to Boma. Well, I didn't believe that it could touch my beloved Boma.
Well, it touched my Boma.
It was TERRIFIC. It might, in fact, be superior to Boma. But of that, I'm not quite sure yet. Even if it really is, I might have a hard time admitting it to myself.
The food was delicious. There is an orzo pasta dish that has feta cheese, kalamata olives and spinach that blew my mind. Everything was fresh and hot and quickly changed out by the staff as soon as it got to be even slightly low. And the way it is set up (in a very wide open area) made it MUCH easier to access the buffet stations than it is at the great Boma.
The service was outstanding. Our waiter was named Lee and he had our kids in stitches the whole time. He was great.
And the desserts - wow. The "7 layer cookie" was WOW. The passionfruit tart was delicious. They had a cinnamon banana bread pudding with vanilla bean sauce and it was out of this world. And the strawberry mouse was to die for, according to my wife.
I can't wait to try their breakfast some day.
Two other things it has over Boma: it's located within Animal Kingdom (the park), so you don't have to leave the park in order to get dinner - we went right from there to the Safari. And it's open for lunch (which Boma is not).
But It doesn't have Boma's soups. That a BIG feather in Boma's cap.
Anyway, I can't give Tusker House a high enough recommendation.
