I think you should do both, if it works for your schedule.
I'm going to Tusker for the character breakfast on my upcoming trip, so I can't really comment yet on what they serve.
I've been twice for the lunch/dinner buffet, and really enjoy it. It's a great option if you're looking for a different selection than the standard buffet on site, although they do have options for kids and those hoping to stick to traditional fare (mashed potatoes, veggies, mac n cheese, meats, etc.)
They have a great salad bar (including items like couscous salad), different types of hummus, samosas, different types of rice, veggies and tofu in curries, different sauces, etc. I'm sure they have many interesting (as well as more standard) meat dishes, but I'm vegetarian so I guess I didn't pay as close attention.
I'm vegetarian and am more adventurous in my eating, while my mom eats meat and normally won't veer from American/Italian/Americanized Chinese food. We both loved Tusker House though, so I think it has something for everyone.
