What a treat to eat here. I had read past posts and we tried it last week and ended up having lunch there 2 different days. What great food for counter service! Rotisserie chicken, fresh veggies, small portion of mashed potatoes, and WOW was the chocolate cake so delicious and moist!
If you haven't tried this spot, YOU MUST! Food is great, the CMs were awesome and just a good change of pace from the usual fare. And they took my DDE discount card too, which was a good savings! You have to try this place!

Excellent! We have plans to eat there this Fall already. Dh picked the BBQ last time and I picked TH for this trip :D

Thanks for the thumbs up.

:D

Thanks for the thread! Tusker House is one of my "must do's" the next time we visit AK.

I don't know how "hidden" it is as it seems to pretty pretty busy whenever we're there which is everytime we go to AK. If we could we'd make ADR's here.. ;) Their salmon platter is excellent and what a value!! Better food than some of the sit-downs!!

We thought Tusker House was great. :thumbsup2 I had the salmon and rice which was lovely, and the chocolate cake...mmmmm! We had to carry it round for a bit though as we were too full from the meal to eat it! Carrot cake was good too.

I agree, this place is wonderful. LOVE the salmon. But, to agree with another poster, it's not overly hidden!

Tusker house is delicious, and it used to be even better when they still offered that wonderful spicey peanut chicken (their african entree).

There is also the wonderful cakes etc at the Kusadari bakery on the same premises. :teeth:

One of our favorite places to eat. During each visit we land there as soon as they open.

I am trying this out when we go in Sept. Nice to know that it is well-liked.

Back in February, Dh, ds, and dd wanted to ride Everest, so ds and I walked over to get fast passes to Safari. We decided to go into Tusker House for
a quick bite, and ordered the breakfast platter. It was delicious! The others met up with us there and ordered breakfast as well. I would definitely go back and try lunch! :thumbsup2

I agree I love the 1/2 Rotisserie Chicken at Tusker House. I think you get a lot of food there as well. Often times we will split the Chicken meal between two people.

I guess some people haven't heard the saying "hidden gem" meaning it's a place that most people don't eat at, when they think AK, They think Pizzafari, RFC, Flame Tree, Restaurantsaurus. I wasn't saying it was actually hidden to the couple of posters here who thought that was what I meant, you made me chuckle. I meant its not what most people expect at AK for counter service.
As for the post about can you substitute? You sure can. I saw salmon with rice, salmon with potatoes, chicken with rice, chicken with mashed potatoes AND french fries instead of veggies. The cashiers were very friendly and even though customers in line were aggitated with some people in front of us for wanting to substitute, I think it's great that they do that for people.

This is our favorite counter service restaurant in all of WDW. The salmon and chicken are both wonderful and it's so nice to get fresh vegetables with a counter service meal!

I wish it was hidden just a little bit better!!! Last time we were there we wandered around with a full food tray for about 15 minutes looking for a table.
While I love the restaurant, I won't go in a peak time again!
