Tusker House ADR and DME time...is this possible?

My dilemma~I have Tusker House booked for the first lunch slot of the day at 11:30 (couldn't get breakfast). Our plane leaves at 4:45pm now (airline just moved it up 20 minutes :headache:). We are planning on leaving AK right after we're done eating.

Is it even possible for us to eat lunch here, get back to POFQ, and get on DME? They usually book you 3 hours before your flight, right? (I've taken it several times, and am totally spacing on this detail). Does anyone know what a taxi for 6 would cost and how long that would take to get to the airport?

In theory, we should get seated right away since we're the first lunch slot of the day, right? (how often does breakfast drag over to lunch at TH?) And since we won't have characters and it's a buffet, lunch shouldn't take us long.

Okay, thanks for any help!

So, they'll be picking you up at 1:45 and your reservations are for 11:30. I would think that you'd be seated right away and let's say you take an hour, that puts you at 12:30 so you have 1.15 to play with. If you take a cab that would cut down on transportation time, so I say it might be a bit tight or stressful - but doable. I'd be curious to see what others have to say. Have a great trip.

It is doable... if lunch till 12:30..... even 12:45, then allow time to walk to buses and time to wait for bus, take bus, I think it's possible depending on how soon you get seated, how quick you eat, how long bus takes to make it back at 1:15, 1:30.... and still need time for restroom perhaps, and grab your carry on bags if have them stored. Worst case, yeah, could take a cab I suppose.
But wonder if it's even all worth it... just how enjoyable your lunch really will be with rushing and making it on time on your mind.

I agree with the PPs: it is doable, but it will be tight. You will need to back at POFQ and ready to board ME at least 15 minutes before your scheduled pick-up time (so, if your pick-up is at 1:45 pm, you need to ready by 1:30). Unless you are going to take all of your carry-ons with you to AK, be sure to allot enough time to get them from bell services. I would definitely plan on taking a cab from AK to POFQ (probably about $15) - that will save some time.

Finally, I would keep trying to get a breakfast ADR. Things might open up and that might be a lot less stressful.

It's doable but I wouldn't do it. If you are seated later then your ADR then you might be a bit later then expected at the parks and then stress will settle during your meal and you will try to rush our the door to get to your resort for ME. So not worth the stress, trust me on that one, we did something similar a few weeks ago and it was a nightmare. We got back to AS movies 10 minutes before ME and were soo stressed out.

Personally, I think you will be cutting it really close, depending on how long you have to wait for a bus back to the resort. You could potentially be waiting 20 minutes just for the bus. I would try to find an ADR for a breakfast somewhere else, and one that isn't in a park. BOMA has a breakfast with similar food. What about a character breakfast at Cape May?

The other option would be looking into paying for a Mears shuttle or taxi to take you to the airport. I always feel like the ME picks you up earlier than you technically need. Then you could compare the cost of transporting yourselves to the airport to how much you want to have that specific meal. I also agree with PPs who suggested keep looking for ADRs for breakfast or at a different location!

Take a taxi from AK to POR and it will get you there in 15 minutes. You should be fine. Cost shouldn't be more than $20 for that.... taxi to the airport will be significantly more.

Vote for this. They usually have them right there and it will be a lot less stressful then waiting for the bus.

If you want a general idea of what it will cost, you can use a fare estimator on the Mears site--just plug in the two addresses.
