I have heard this is a WDW don’t miss. But…. Where When and What is it all about? I loved Finding Nemo :lovestruc , so this caught my eye but I can’t seem to find any info about it. Can anybody help? :listen:

This is from the Allears website: I hope this helps!

On November 16, 2004, a new experience at the Living Seas opened called "Turtle Talk with Crush." It features a computer-animated version of the surfer dude turtle from "Finding Nemo" in 10-minute conversations with visitors.

AllEarsNet® friend CraigC writes: What used to be the "Atlas" room is now an enclosed theater (much like the "Making of Me" theater). The audience faces a screen that looks into the ocean. Since you are in the Living Seas where many large windows look into an ocean environment, this looks much like another such window. A host introduces Crush (the sea turtle) from "Finding Nemo." Crush is an interactive 3D animation that talks with the audience. He looks at the person he's talking with and really interacts with people. For example, the host will ask a kid his name and Crush will say "Hello, Jimmy." He makes jokes and takes questions from audience. The show lasts about 10 minutes and is very enjoyable. As word spreads about this show, it will become very popular. I would guess that the theater holds about 100 people. I have never seen anything like this before. It's a really nice addition to a tired pavilion.

We did this on our last trip (January) and it was great! It is in the living seas at Ecpot. Shows approximately every 20 minutes. You line up and go into a small room with a large screen in the front that looks like one of the glass windows into the fish tanks. They encourage children to sit in the front on the floor and adults can sit on benches. Crush swims up and begins talking to the CM and the kids. The CM passes the microphone around to the kids and Crush "calls on them" by saying stuff like "the girl in the pink shell" (my daughter had on a pink sweatshirt) and they ask him questions and he responds and usually works a some good educational material into the answer. One kid asked how to tell boys turtles from girl turtles! Crush did better on that answer than most parents would! Very cute! and since it is based on questions from the audience I expect each show is a little different. Don't miss it!

This attraction had just opened a month or two before our last trip, so we got to experience it. What fun! - 'Turtle Talk with Crush' is now high on my list of favorite attractions. Be aware that the theatre is not very large - I actually think that it probably holds a bit more than 100 folks (maybe about 150?), but it's still not one of WDW's biggest theatres. And the shows do *not* run continuously - they have a set schedule (which might be available on Steve Soares' website plus I think the performance schedule is posted inside The Living Seas pavilion?) *Anyway*, in other words, don't promise little ones that your family/party will be able to see it right away. You might have to wait quite a while during busy seasons.

I'm not sure of the exact Imagineering that was done to accomplish this particular feat, but it looks like some kind of 'motion-capture' coupled with an animated background. And Crush really does talk to particular individuals in the audience! *REALLY* - the effect is just so sweet, especially for the little ones who love Finding Nemo.

agnes!

For the budget the thing got, they did a great job. The turtle's mouth moves in almost real time with the words, and if you don't look too closely, the effect is pretty good. And the guy they got to do the voice was apparently trained at the Jeff Spicoli School of Drama, so he does a good impersonation of Crush.

I wouldn't mind seeing more of this effect around the park.

My dd6 is just finishing a project on sea turtles! I wonder how to get her "picked" to ask a question here! She'd be so tickled about that!

We had to drag our sons, 10 and 7 to this....they had no interest at all!

Wow, am I glad I made them do this one!

The entire thing is really cool! What looks like just an animated screen with crush, turns into a completly interactive experience!

My son was chosen to talk to crush, and then they even talked to my husband and I "the parental units". It was very fun.

Near the end, Crush asked for any questions, and any child who raised their hand was answered, so I would guess that if your child wants to talk to Crush , they would have that chance.

THis was one of the highlights of our trip!

Go! Our kids LOVED this...we all did. The room/theater is not too big so it is very nice, and the kids can go right up front on the floor. Jump right in with a question as soon as the CM asks, 'cause Crush can continue the conversation or jump to others...you just never know. We went twice and it was really a blast. DUUUUUDE...You gotta go!

My kids loved it and even I learned something new. If the sand is cool then all the turtle eggs will be boys. If the sand is warm, they are all girls. That is why dudes are cool and babes are totally hot.lol
I will definitely go see it on our next trip.

We saw Crush in December and it was one of the highlights of our trip too. The kids are still talking about it!

My niece got to ask Crush a question and she was just thrilled! He asked her name and she said "Mallory" and Crush said "Cha, Malley, Mal!" -- which is what we call her sometimes!

Try to get your DS front and center (kids can sit on the floor in front) and I think bright clothing or a hat might help. Both times we saw the show the first kids Crush picked for questions were kids with "lids" (as Crush put it)Maybe just a coincedence, but maybe not.

I would also like to see more of this from Disney at the parks, it really has that magical Disney touch.
