How far from Aulani? Was thinking of renting a car and going for a couple of hours to show my girls.

If that's the only reason you have to rent a car, save the money and the time and walk one cove over to Paradise Cove. There are several sea turtles there that will swim right up close to you. You can bring snorkel gear over there and get an excellent look at them.

If you're thinking of Laniakea Beach, it's about 50 minutes according to Google maps.

Agree that it probably doesn't make sense to go there just for that, but it can be a nice day if you make other stops. Like the Dole Plantation, just for a dole whip, or the train and/or maze. Lunch at a shrimp truck, shaved ice at Matsumoto's, and explore the North Shore.

I agree about walking next door to Paradise Cove just to see turtles. Laniakea Beach is about 45 minutes away. We stopped at Dole Plantation, Matsumotos, shrimp truck, on our way there. Both have turtles.

Would someone mind explaining how to get to this cove to see the turtles? We will be staying at Aulani in Nov, and I know my kids would love it.

Thank you:)

Go out to the road in front of Aulani and turn left. Go past the Four Seasons and you'll see a parking lot. Along the water side of the parking lot, there is a fence. There will be a break in the fence line with fencing on both sides of a path. Follow the path down to the cove. Very easy walk.

Great, thank you!! Sounds very easy ;)

Is this also how we'd get to Paradise Cove luau?

To get to the luau, you would go past the path down to the beach and keep walking until you get to the luau entrance.

We went to Laniakea Beach on our North Shore day. It's a convenient stop if you're going to the North Shore or Waimea Valley, but I would not make a special trip there just for it. It's a small, rocky beach and it's VERY crowded. Tons of people, small parking area, difficult to get down to the beach due to the terrain. When we were there, there was one large turtle with people crowded around. No room for swimming or hanging on the beach there either, really. Worth a stop if you're in the area, but I wouldn't go otherwise.
