She asked for my help but even myself, I dont know everything :P

She and her family might be taking a quick trip..

here's her question... and thanks - you will probably know something I dont. Someone suggested mousavers.com ... I dont think the FL resident discount works for non residents.. I explained to her about hopper passes and how they dont expire if she goes back can use unused days.. what do u guys think? As we all know park tix are expensive no matter what....

Ok Disney fans... I'm coming to the experts - there's a chance I may take a 4day trip w/family to Disney at the end of the month for the Halloween festivities.. but on a budget, like, no budget, hahaha! we have a place to stay (relatives own a condo), we're trying to get the best deal on park tix? she said we want 2days disney, 2 days universal, but me and my other cousin want to do epcot? anyhow, i've never been and dont plan on being able to do everything, just really want to see what it's like and have a little fun... so where can i get the best prices on park tix?????
..

I think they could consider buying the single day passes through Mousesavers link to Undercover Tourist. We don't use the hopper option because we feel like too much time is spent getting from park to park.

I know others will have much better advice than I. We usually buy 10 day passes that don't expireand use them for couple trips so I am not up on the latest ticket info.

Just so you're clear, adding park hopping to a ticket does not make it non-expiring. You have to add the non-expiring option which can add about $100 to the ticket price I believe (I'm not completely sure on the price). If your friend plans on returning to Disney at some point the non-expiring might be a good option. Personally we don't do Disney for less than 5 days because I think that the 1, 2, and 3 day passes are ridiculously high per day.

Park hopper passes will expire 14 days after the first day that they are used. There is a no expiration addon with a cost that is based on the number of days originally on the ticket. I would not recommend getting non-expiring tickets if your friend is traveling on a budget. It's a lot of money to spend upfront for a vacation that is being taken in the distant future.

Here's what I would do:
  • 1-day hoppers to do Epcot and another park. The cost for hopping is less for 1-day tickets than it is for multiday tickets. Cost for a 1 day hopper = $128 per adult.
  • 1 ticket for MNNSHP which costs around $67 per adult. You can get into the MK around 4 pm the evening of the party.
  • Total cost per adult = $195. Compared to $238 for a 2-day hopper.
Most ticket places do not sell 1 or 2 day tickets because there isn't enough profit. You're not going to be able to find them cheaper than buying them right from Disney.

Are you planning to do Halloween Horror Night at Universal too? If they are going at the end of Sept./beginning of Oct., there is a "Frequent Fear" pass for $70 + tax. The pass is good for each and every night of the party during the first 3 weeks (Sept 23 - Oct. 9). It would be cheaper than the regular party ticket ($82 + tax).

Or you can add the party ticket to a regular Universal park ticket for a discount of $30-$40. (They call it a Stay and Scream ticket). The party ticket does not have to be used on the same day that your park ticket is used. But a 1 day ticket is going to run you another $85 + tax. That's still less expensive than a 2 day/2 park ticket.

You could also skip the Halloween parties and just go to the parks for 2 or 3 days. Buy your tickets from Undercovertourist using the Mousesavers newsletter link if you decide to do that. It will be the cheapest way to get 3 day passes to Disney and 2 day passes to Universal.

It sounds like your friend is using the term Disney to mean magic kingdom (2 days at Disney and want to do EPCOT). Make sure she knows that EPCOT is part of Disney. Also make sure she knows doing all 4 days at Disney will be much cheap than 2 at Disney and 2 at universal since the more days you buy on a ticket the cheaper per day. I would NOT do the hopper or the no expiration in this case. There is so much to do in each park (except maybe for ak) that a first timer could easily spend an entire day per park. We've been 20 times and still do two full days in EPCOT and never see it all!

thanks again! I will def give her all info with all options. I think her head is spinning!

lol
