We are afraid we might melt. It doesn't get much above 60 degrees in our part of the world even in the summer, when you don't get down to the lower 48 much 65 can start to seem hot. So I keep telling my DH that for the month before we leave we're going to crank the heat in our apartment to get him ready.
This is my first pre-trip report or any kind of report
Introduction:
The travelers on this trip, me Jackie and my soon to be husband Kelly.
I am the Disney fan; I grew up on Disney and have been to WDW many times. I am from Michigan, but moved to Juneau AK in 2007 to serve in Americorps VISTA and have made Juneau my home. I currently work for the State of Alaska, Office of Childrens Services I love my job and it has enough vacation time to go to Disney! I am a fulltime student on top of working; I will get my Sociology degree at some point. Other than Disney I am a hobbyist photographer and love all things geeky, video games, sci-fi , BBC.
My soon to be DH, is not a Disney fan. He likes the movies but has never been to the parks; he is looking forward to this trip but really doesnt have a clue what hes in for. Not only has he never been to WDW he has never been to a theme park so this will be a new experience for him. He is a lifelong Alaskan, born and raised. This trip will be the farthest east he has ever been. He also works for the State of Alaska in the Department of Sport Fish. He is a fellow geek and also loves cars.
We are getting married on Jan 12 2013,
boy is that soon! Its a super small wedding, just enough people to make it legal. So this trip is going to be our Honeymoon but I started planning it before he proposed.
The Trip:
We just submitted a reservation form to Davids DVC Rental and are waiting with fingers crossed. You choose your top four resorts so that if they cant book your first choice they can try three others. Our first and second choices are the Board Walk, then Beach Club then Animal Kingdom. Admittedly the themes and decor for the Board Walk and Beach Club do not appeal to us much, practically the decor in the DVC rooms, it kind of looks like a grandma exploded, flower patterns and pastels oh my. But the location and dinning options still make it our first choice. We will be super happy with whatever we get, its Disney after all.
We are planning on Oct 6-16 2013 for us that means leaving Juneau on Oct 5Its my longest stay yet, its during food and wine and Halloween celibrations.
Can't wait!
At some point down the road we will buy the deluxe dinning plan. We feel the convenience of having the meals pre-paid trumps the money issues. I was on the plan the last time I staid in Disney and loved it. We are also not huge breakfast people, and will have a couple days we cant use all our credits because of travel or going to Universal. This means we can do a signature almost every night. I am already thinking about what ADRs I am going to make at the 180 day mark. We are foodie people, and we dont get a lot of great food in Juneau and none of it (except the sea food) is fresh so we are really looking forward to eating.
I am a planner so I will be updating often I hope! Thanks everyone!!
