Turning LEFT into CR from World Drive?

We're coming in the 'back way' to Contemporary this weekend, driving in from the north by means of Center Dr. Looks like we can turn left onto Asian Dr, which becomes World Dr (Space Mountain will be on our right). When we get to Contemporary, will we be able to turn LEFT into the resort? There doesn't seem to be a lane that will allow us to do that, but it's kinda hard to tell on Google. The option would be to continue on Center Dr and access World Drive from Seven Seas, allowing us to turn RIGHT into Contemporary - but that adds several miles and minutes. Anyone know? Thanks!

I am not certain exactly where you are coming in from because I am not sure where Asian Road is. I know there is a Center Drive off of Reams Road that connects to World Drive. Is this the direction you are thinking about? If so, are you certain you can get through there? I think there is a gate there that is only for commercial traffic. If you can come in that way, then yes, you can turn in left to the Contemporary.

If you look at the map on Yahoo Maps, it indicates where various gates requiring permission around WDW are located.

Yes, the OP is talking about Center Drive off Reams Road. They'll be able to get through, that's the same route many CMs take to get to MK cast parking (they come thru toll plaza & take World Drive to Center Drive to the parking lot near Reams Road.)
Looking at MapQuest with their traffic patterns/arrows highlighted, it doesn't look like you're able to make a left turn into the Contemporary.

You cannot turn left into the Contemporary coming from that direction- - our condo is back that way and that is how we go to MK and Contemporary. A few weeks ago we had a meal one night and the pirate cruise the next and discovered we had to go past the Contemporary and then do a Uturn or turn into a driveway and come back toward it the other way and turn right into there.

Hope that helps.

That's how it looks to us too, even tho Google Maps showed a left turn into the resort. Thanks so much for the info, and thanks to the other posters as well.

I learn something new every day. I know that I had considered coming off Reams Road before, but was told that this was only for commercial traffic and not guests.

As for the left turn, I probably was thinking where someone else had done a U-turn as I know that I was almost hit by someone trying to get into Contemporary turning left when I was going around to GF.

Tobikaye, I like that the Yahoo map shows the gates. However, they show a gate at the intersection of Reams Rd and Center Dr - if you look at street view, there is no gate at this location. We normally come in thru Western
Way, but realized after looking at the maps that there is a more direct route. Not as 'magical' perhaps, but less time and mileage!

In the past when we went to the Winter Garden Shopping Village we also drove back to the Contemporary along the back roads of WDW behind the Magic Kingdom, however we were able to turn left into the Contemporary without any problems.

I just returned from Orlando and came into Disney several times via the back way and passing the Contemporary on the left.

The first turn into the Contemporary (not a guard gate) is for employees and there is a gate arm.

The second turn would be the traditional turn where the guard shack is. It is physically possible to turn HOWEVER the road into the Contemporary curves into there in such a way that you are led to believe it is a right turn only (coming the other direction) and the signage says not to turn left into there. I can't remember the exact wording .. I was driving and my daughter was watching for me.

If it's a NO LEFT TURN, then you really can't do it, so it would seem that the shortest route to come down that way and still reach the CR would be to keep going to Seven Seas Drive, make a right, then turn in at the old Kennels to turn around and go back the way you came, only you would be approaching from the south. (that is, assuming that they haven't completely blocked the kennels' driveway to the point where you can't use it to pull in far enough to turn around. I think that the next turn spot past that point is the MK Drop-off area, which would also work.)
