Yes, I am a bit sad but also very happy to be sitting on my own couch again, typing at the computer. We made it home, safe and sound. It was an uneventful flight and drive home thankfully. Getting out of the hotel was a little scary though. I will elaborate later. I just wanted to post a quick poll to see if you can guess how many pictures I took. I can't wait to post them! For now, I have lots of unpacking to do. DH is busy doing most of it though. We have a deal, I do all of the packing and he does the unpacking. What a wonderful man. I PROMISE to write more tonight after we are a bit more settled. I can hardly wait to get going on the TR!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was wonderful. You'll be on your way soon too. The Beach Club is AMAZING!!! It was sooooo hard to leave. Really, if I died today, that is where I would want to go. How old are your twins? I have plenty of toddler tips if you need any! I definitely learned a lot this trip!

Glad you made it home safe and sound!

I'm guessing 1000+ photos!

We are home, and safe, but sad. I want to go sit by the pool right now!

Hello. Well, here I am, sitting on my couch, watching my husband sleep with ESPN on in the background. Back to reality. Not that my reality is bad, it's just not the Beach Club. What an amazing time we had. Now don't get me wrong, it was hard. Really hard. The kids were fussy and we really had to stick to their schedule. We were back in the room for naps every day by 1:00 or so. There were a couple of days that we missed the nap window and those nights were doosies! But all in all, it was perfect. I learned so much on this trip not only about traveling with small children, but also about myself. I think that my patience level grew leaps and bounds. I also learned that whoever made up the phrase "Terrible Twos" had not yet had a three year old. And it's official, she's a real true three year old now. And boy, she doesn't like to listen all that much. I was at the end of my rope quite a few times with her. DS was also a lot to handle. He did not like to sit still. It was fine if we were on a ride that was moving, but as far as sitting and watching a show? Not going to happen. He's a mover! I first realized this on the ME bus ride to our hotel. He did not like it and it just got worse. He hated the buses. DH and I did everything we could to avoid them. Luckily, we were able to walk to Epcot so many times we just took the monorail when we could and walked home. We even took a cab one night to the GF for dinner at 1900 Park Fare. I just didn't have the energy to deal with the bus and was willing to pay the $15 to get there.

Wow, I don't even know where to begin with this report! I've thought about it so much and now that it's time to put everything down into words, I'm drawing a blank. Maybe it's because I'm exhausted. All I can tell you is that there is no other place on this planet like Disney. The feelings that I have while I'm there are just, well, euphoric. And then to be able to share them with my kids? Well, that was just icing on the cake. I'm so sad it's over but so happy to have created the memories that we did.

Let me just tell this sad story to get it off my chest and then I promise I will be onto happier things... So last night, I was sad. I mean, really sad. I was actually sobbing because it was our last night there. My poor DH didn't know what to do. I kept saying that we had so much to do and pack. I felt overwhelmed. He tried to assure me that it would be ok and asked why I felt like it was going to take so long to pack everything up? My answer, because it took 10 months to get together. That's when I lost it. I poured my heart and soul into this trip and tried to make it as special as possible. I think I succeeded with flying colors. I will never forget Aubrey's expression when she saw Cinderella Castle for the first time or her face when we rode Peter Pan. She, and DS, were in awe. I am so blessed that I was able to share this time with them and my husband. It was a wonderful week that I will cherish for the rest of my life. And while I know my kids are probably too young to remember it, they will have the pictures and scrap book and autographs to remind them of what fun we had. If I could, I would pack everything back up and leave again tomorrow. It was a dream come true, in so many ways. I really hope that you all read along with me as I share with you each moment. I can't wait!

When we got home today, it was so surreal. Thankfully, I had cleaned the house really well before we left so it looked nice. The kids had a blast playing in their rooms. They missed all of their stuff. We have NO food! I had to go to Walgreens to pick up a prescription and some milk. While I was there, I came across this...

home005.jpg

I had to have it. It was a sign. I brought him home and plugged him in and we all stood around it and had a moment. Mickey is here with us. They also had Pooh but I just stuck with the big cheese. If anyone is interested, I found him on the Halloween aisle and he was $12.99. I may go get a few more to put in the front of the house.

Alright, that's it for now. I promise that my entries will not be so disjointed and random in the future. I guess I just needed to get the juices flowing!

Also, I am going to change the name of my report in case y'all don't recognize it. I just feel like I need to start off with a clean slate but I don't want to start a whole new thread and lose my subbers!!!! I love you all. You keep the spirit of Disney alive in me. Please read along and let me know what you think. Thanks and have a magical night!

Question....

Do I just change the name of my report or do I start a new one??? I think I may start a new one. What do y'all think?:confused3

Welcome home! I can't wait to hear about the Beach Club.

As for starting your report, you can just change the name in here or start a new one. For my May TR I just continued in the same thread. But other people start a new one. It's up to you! :)

Welcome Back home.
Can't wait to see all your photos!

I am always sad to leave Disney and return home. :sad1:

I used to say that about three being the terrible age not two. :lmao:

Talissa, where art thou?! ;) Can't wait for an update! popcorn::

I'm her, I'm here! I promise to do an update later tonight. I have to go visit my SIL and her new baby tonight. Trust me, it's killing me to not sit down and get started!

Welcome home Talissa.

I'm so looking forward to reading your trip report. Make sure you add a link at the bottome of your page or somewhere where we can find you...

Thanks! I am officially ready to get started on my TR! I think I am going to leave it on this thread. Just changing the title a bit. Enjoy:)

For the last 10 months, I have been planning every detail of this dream vacation. From where we were going to stay, to where we were going to eat, to exactly what time we were going to leave for the airport. We were due to leave on Friday morning around 8am to catch our flight in New Orleans at 11:15. It's about an hour drive so I figured that would be plenty enough time. Well, during the few days before we left, people were asking me about what time our flight was, what time were we leaving..... When I told them that we would be driving into New Orleans that morning, I was getting some pretty unsettling responses. Finally, when my sister said to me, "I just figured that y'all would stay in the New Orleans the night before your flight" I realized that may be a really good idea. And the best part, that meant that our vacation was going to start a day early! This was on Wednesday that we decided to get a room in N.O. the next night. I hopped online and found a good rate at a LaQuinta. DH and I had stayed the night before in a Hilton and it was very nice. I decided to be a little more frugal this time. This was my rationale... we would be parking our car at the airport and spending at least $90 so why not get a hotel room and put the money towards that instead. BRILLIANT! I was able to find a room that included free parking and breakfast. Score. DH was sold. Now, I was in super stress mode because that meant I now had to have everything packed a day early:scared1: It was stressful, but fun at the same time. So I go through the booking process online and got my confirmation number. All was well until I realized that I booked the room for Friday night instead of Thursday night:scared: I was doing all of this through Expedia and just had the date of 9/26 on the brain since that's the date I had been waiting for for so long. I immediately got on the phone and called Expedia. We're talking, within 3 minutes of booking online. The guy on the phone said he had to check with his manager because this hotel did not allow changes to the reservation after booking. "Really, I made this 3 minutes ago and I'm going to Disney World and I've just been really overwhelmed and I really need you to help me out here!" I pleaded with the poor Expedia guy. He put me on hold and thankfully came back with good news. "Alright Mrs. Becnel, we will do this for you this time." Ahhhh, the magic had already started. Thank you Jesus. So it's now official. We're leaving tomorrow!!!!!

Ok, so onto to the camcorder saga. So, if you remember from an earlier post, my camcorder mysteriously stopped working after I loaned it to my nephew. I found this out when I tried to video at DD's birthday party the Saturday before we were due to leave for Disney:eek: Ok, so because I am at home all day with two small kids, I really do not have the time to go out camcorder shopping. I called the Circuit City 800 number and was helped by a very nice salesperson. She assured me that she knew her electronics and she would help me pick out a good camcorder for my trip. Um, yes, I told her why I needed the camera. I all but told her my entire itinerary before our conversation was over. I don't care if she just wanted to make a sale, she seemed to be interested in my trip so I felt the need to share. Anyway, I digress. So, she helped me pick out a camcorder that recorded directly onto full sized DVD's. I thought this would be handy to just be able to take the DVD out of the camcorder and put it straight into the DVD player. I ordered it and DH picked it up on his way home from work. He gives it to me and I tear into the box like a kid on Christmas morning. I get it out and open the door to put in a blank DVD. Oh, I should mention that along with the camera, she had recommended I get a box of blank full sized DVDs. Ok, great. So I open the little camera door and find that it actually takes mini DVD's. Uh, something's not right here. I showed DH and he took it back to Circuit City and explained that the girl on the phone obviously didn't know what she was talking about and that he would like to exchange the camera for one that takes full sized DVDs. He was then told that that does not exist. So what did DH do? He just returned it and came home with nothing:confused3 :confused3 Can I tell you how furious I was when he came home empty handed??? Why in the world he didn't get a different camera I don't know. So I got back on the phone with another Circuit City sales person and explained the problem. Really, I didn't mind having a mini DVD camcorder. It was just that I had a whole box of full sized DVD's that I had ordered. Thankfully, I never opened them. She told me that they must have given DH the wrong camera at the store and it was a mistake. I had to replace the order and got the model number so that when DH went to pick it up, he could check the box to make sure it was the right one. DH knew how mad I was so he said nothing when I asked him to go back out and pick up the correct camera. When he brought it home, I anxiously took it out of the box. Guess what??? Mini DVD. You have got to be kidding me. I was almost in tears I was so mad:mad: Why is this happening???? I am a big believer in signs, or in this case, omens. Does this mean our plane is going to crash???? Silly, I know. So I get on the phone yet again with Circuit City. I asked the person who answered if there was any way I could speak to the last person that placed my most recent order since she knew this confusing story already. Um, nope, not possible. They don't keep track of that. Ok, so I had to go through all of this again with yet another sales person. I asked her if she could do a little research and see what the deal was. Maybe the description of the camcorder was incorrect. She put me on hold and got a manager. Well what do you know. The description was wrong!!! It said full sized DVD but it is in fact a mini DVD. You've got to be kidding me. Oh well, that's fine. I am keeping this and I am never calling you people again. She was somewhat apologetic but not enough to suit me. I was so stressed about this. And then there were the full sized DVD's that I had already ordered. The girl on the phone said that I would have to return them and get some mini DVD's. I also needed an extra battery for the camera. I placed this new order and decided that it would be easier to pick them up on our way out of town the next day. This was all happening on Wednesday, the day before we leave for New Orleans. Long story short...the camera worked great and I like it. It was just one of those things that made me want to pull my hair out!!!!!

Up next.... getting out of Baton Rouge. Easier said than done!

Wow ...so the week leading up to your trip was an exercise in patience!

I would have felt like pulling my hair out too!

And I'm glad you're keeping this TR in this place. It's easy for me to find!

I woke up Thursday morning and realized that I would be leaving that evening for New Orleans and that my vacation was officially about to begin! My kids actually slept a little late this morning so I decided to treat myself and stay in bed a bit longer. Who was I kidding. Like I could rest with so much excitement in the air. Most of the bags were pretty much packed. I just had to get together the last few toiletries, kids medicines, charge cords... that kind of stuff. The there was the most important chore of the day, according to my DD. Tearing off the last Mickey ring from our countdown. Look how excited she is...

disneyday1004.jpg

My brother came in town later that day and wanted to cook us dinner before we left for New Orleans. I should mention this because I don't know that I ever have. My mom lives with me. Well, not really with me. My dad passed away about 7 years ago and left my mom with a mortgage she could not afford. My husband came up with the brilliant idea to add onto our house and have her live here. We ended up selling her house and adding on 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, a kitchen, laundry, and living room for her right off the back of my house. It works our wonderfully for us because she will stay home with the kids when I need to run to the grocery store or do other errands. My brother is a Catholic priest and comes in to stay with her on Thurs and Friday nights because Friday is his day off. The only way she would agree to moving here is if we built a room for him. I felt I needed to mention this because my mom may come up from time to time in my stories and I wanted y'all to understand the situation.

Ok, so onto Thursday night. My DB cooked us a yummy going away dinner of feta cream linguini with shrimp and a stacked tomato and avacado salad. Did I mention he is a fabulous cook? He loves to try out his new recipies on us and that's just fine with me! The meal was great, the kids were bathed and fed, and we were ready to hit the road. We had a few errands to run on our way out of town, starting with Circuit City:mad: We also needed to make a stop at the drugstore to get some medicine for my DS. Why? You ask? Well, it's because he decided to come down with a virus the day before and had been having diarrhea which caused a horrible diaper rash. He couldn't eat anything or have any milk, and my baby loves his milk! So we went to the store and got him some hiney medicine then headed to Circuit City for the famous mini DVD's and camcorder battery. Then we were officially off! The drive to New Orleans was so relaxing. It was late and my kids were tired so we were playing them some soft music in hopes that they would drift off to sleep. It worked. Here they are when we arrived to NO...

disneyday1005.jpg

DH and I were so excited to be on our way that we decided to get a daiquiri to celebrate. We drove through a daiquiri shop right by the airport. That's right, I said drove through. Hey, this is New Orleans ok?? Don't worry though, the hotel was literally across the street from the D shop so it was no biggie. DH decided on a white russian and I got chocolate banana:woohoo: Yummo.

disneyday1006.jpg

We pulled into the hotel and the parking lot was packed! Geee, didn't know the LaQuinta was so popular. Well, when I walked into the lobby to check in, I saw why. The tiny little hotel bar, located next door to the lobby, was overflowing with rowdy people and tons of cigarette smoke:scared: So much so that I really didn't want to bring my kids through becuase of the smell and noise. They just don't need to be exposed to this kind of stuff so young. Unfortunately, I had no other choice. I went out the parking lot to help DH with the kids and luggage. As we walked through the lobby, a very drunk guy stopped us and said what a beautiful family we were and told us to enjoy our time with each other. Strangly, this poor, seemingly lonely guy, kind of put a smile on my face. That is, in fact, what this trip is all about. Us spending time together as a family and creating wonderful memories. So if your out there, drunk LaQuinta bar guy, thanks:thumbsup2 Up to our room we went. It was nice enough. Clean and looked fairly new. The kids were beat and ready for bed, as were we. I had requested a crib for DS and it arrived shortly after we got into the room. Here is a pic of the bed.

disneyday1007.jpg

It reminded me of an orphanage bed but DS didn't mind. He slept pretty well, with the exception of pain from his bottom. It was kind of a rough night for all of us. I just think we were all too excited to sleep soundly! Before I turned otu the lights, I called down to the front desk to arrange a shuttle to the airport for the morning. We would be leaving at 10:00. The flight was at 11:15 so that should be plenty of time.

Up next, a sassy three year old and a sick baby:sick:

Great start. You are really doing a great job at this trip report. Grace stayed in a crib like that is Atlanta. I said the same thing. It reminded me of an orphanage crib.

I have to take Grace and Brennan to the doctor today. I am waiting to start calling to get a appointment. Sometimes it feels like I am trying to win a contest on a radio station when I am calling there doctor. Brennan is coughing and it looks like Grace may have a spider bite. She got it at the park yesterday.

I will check in later. I can't wait to here more about your trip. Oh by the way my next door neighbor has a little girl two weeks older than Grace. She wants to take them to the Baton Rouge zoo soon. Maybe we can meet up.

I'm hoping for another update today! (demanding?! LOL!) Seriously, I think your update was fantastic and I cannot wait for the next one. Btw, when are you changing your title? ;)

Uhhh, doctor appointments. I hope Brennan is ok. How old is he again? And a spider bite:scared1: Ewwwwww. I've had a spider bite before and it really hurt. Poor little Grace. Hope it all turns out ok. Yesterday was a beautiful day to be at the park. Aparantly the spiders thought so too:rotfl: I have to make appointments for my kids too. They are both due for checkups - 3 years and 18months. I've never had to bring them both at the same time. Looking so forward to that.

Let me know when y'all go to the zoo. That would be fun to meet up!
