Which is pretty darn exciting...well, not the turning 50 part! :) My husband and I will be staying at the Royal Pacific from Nov 3 to Nov 9 and I have the Loews card, Fan Club Card, 5 for 2 park tickets and high expectations for a wonderful time! My question? I am very familiar with Disney World but we've only been to US & IOA once for a 'commando day' ....now we have the time to meander and explore and I'm at a loss...any suggestions for romantic and/or fun (but hey, isn't fun romantic??) things for us to do? ANY suggestions would be most appreciated...thanks!

Hiya......One place "everyone" has recommended is Mythos.....don't miss the gooey banana dessert apparently. Don't miss Hitchcock's 3-D Theatre - it's a tribute to the film-making genius himself - seeing over 50 clips from his films including "The Birds", "Psycho", special effects from "The 39 Steps and if you are a "hitchcock" fan like me - there is a wonderful shop to browse through selling memorabilia, lots of books, etc.
Don't miss "The Blue Brothers" - they perform near the Irish Pub Finnegan's. Earthquake and Jaws and definitely Men-in-Black - my favourite ride! Also ET adventure, Popeye&Bluto Bilge-Rat Barges are fun and if you are brave....Jurassic Park River Adventure...it has a drop a 30 second drop at the end but you can view this prior to riding. Also Poseidon's Fury - a walk-through show with special effects where you journey beneath the sea to the lost city of Atlantis. One Fish two Fish too. If you do all these I think you will have had a super day!:D

Selina, I hate to be the bearer of bad news but...Hitchcock closed long ago and has since been replaced by Shrek.

Aside from Selina's other great suggestions here are a few more!

First congrats on celebrating your B-Day at Universal!
Since you have the time I would do everything at a leisurely pace and enjoy the RPR daily. The pool area is beautiful and relaxing. I would consider Mama Della's or Tchoup Chop for your birthday dinner. One evening have a nice meal at one of Portofino's restaurants and have coffee/dessert on the Piazza.

Spend evenings at CityWalk enjoying the many restaurants and do some shopping!

Make sure to note the shows times at both parks as you will have the time to take them all in and each offers great entertainment.

Pool hop at all 3 resorts and maybe have a cabana day at one (very relaxing).

Enjoy a spa experience at Portofino (they are great). They also offer couples massages.

You could see a movie one evening at the Cineplex at City Walk.

Take the time to see all the out of the way paths you normally wouldnt seek out.

Have Fun! :)

Jessica R......that's sad. I missed going last year as we were sooo busy doing everything else. :(

Miakoda--
I recently celebrated by 40th B-day at UO. It was an awesome time! We rented a cabana at the HRH and had dinner at Tchoup Chop (great, but noisy). For a more romantic evening you may want to take the water taxi (twilight would enhance the romance!) over to PBH and enjoy the restaurants over there. I have read that the Delfino Riviera is very romantic (also $$$$) but have not been there myself. (I hear so much about Mama Della's on these boards that I think I will have to have dinner there when I return.)

I always travel with a few candles to light in my hotel room. Let the hotel staff know you are there for a little romance and see if they have any ideas. Consider a late night dip in the hotel hot tub. Stroll the garden path around the water between the HRH and PBH. Hold hands on the scary rides. Call the spa over at the PBH and see if they do couples massage. See if there are any mushy movies at the cinema. Check out the latin dancing at the Latin Quarter. Share a gooey chocolate dessert. Enjoy the scenery from the airplane bar (across from Margaritaville).

Ok I better stop. Hope this helps.

Make sure you go see the Horror Make Up Show at USF. It's good adult entertainment! Sit around the talking fountain at IOA for a while as well as spend a leisurely lunch at Mythos.

Thank you! Thank you! Such wonderful ideas!! I can't wait and appreciate your suggestions so much!

Just wanted to say Hi and Welcome. Hubby and I will be there on Nov. 7 -10 for some romance too!! Maybe we will you see you being romantic there - LOL We will be at Tchoup Chop on the 9th and will probably do Mythos at some point too - Have fun!!

Congradulations on your fun loving trip you have planned. I strongly recommend if you want a special evening take the boat from city walk to Portifino and have SUPPER at mama' Della's there's someing about cresting the bridge and seeing the PBH hotel come into sight all lite and romantic that is just breathtaking to say the least. Once off the boat take a right (your on the piazza then) and stroll on look to your left you'll see some tables and chairs black wrought iron looking beon that and there's mama's very very easy to find. After supper if there's room when you walk outta mamma's the entire piazza is like a semi circle walk left (away from the dock) find the gelatera there lots of great treats await you there. While you enjoy your treat take a walk into the hotel and view the lobby, court yard villa and beach pools there just awesome! Then you can head back i can bet you you will not forget the evening it will be something special.

Oh romance outta the way just plain oh fun go to Jimmy Buffetts' maragritaville for lunch!!!!!!! YUMMY and just a great time to be had if you go before 6 the stilt walkers are there and it's just a lively crowd but not to outta the way. Have a great trip those are my TWO must do's oh and the strawberry powdered sugar funnell cake at the port of entry bakery.LOL

Just wanted to say Welcome to the board and have a wonderful trip. Stick around, we will all help out if we can!:D

You're going during a slow time, so go slow. Soak up the atmosphere, allow yourself to get completely enveloped in the detail and theming. The attention to detail in USF and IOA is truly amazing. Take time just to explore, try out wigs and hats in some of the stores, just have fun. :)

We just got back from our first ever trip to Universal Orlando. After planning our trip, I saw an event that looked like fun and appears to coincide with your dates. If you are a beer fan, the Orlando Beer Festival is at Citywalk November 8 & 9. It's supposed to be a popular event and if you are interested there is a $5 savings on tickets if purchased in advance. It appears that you pay a price to get in and are given a glass to sample any (or all) of the visiting brewers -- some micro-brew and some mainstream. Anyway, I do like beer, especially trying new ones, so I thought this sounded like fun, particularly when you don't have to worry about driving home

Here's a link if you are interested...

Oh and I want to add that we loved Mama Della's! Apparently Delfino Riviera is the 'romantic' restaurant. And although there were families at Mama Della's, we enjoyed a romantic dinner, especially with the strolling muscians.

Have a great time and happy 50th! Enjoy!

DW and I did Emeril's for our 20th anniversary. It worked the romance angle for us. Food and service wonderful, albeit a bit pricey. Banana Cream Pie a must!
