Turning 3 while there

We are headed to Saratoga Springs on an II trader to celebrate my dd 3rd Bday. We more than likely will get on the DDP - but we will not need park tickets cuz my DH and I have some left over from a 10 day no expire tix. What happends with my DD?

Will Disney charge me for the DDP plan only from the days she is 3 or more? I assume I will have to purchase her park tickets for those same days.

I'm sure I am not the only one who has had to plan around this.

Any suggestions?

if she is 2 when you check in then she is 2 the whole trip, now if you want the ddp for her you will have to purchase it and buy her at least a 1 day ticket (unless you are dvc members) My dd2 will be turning three during our trip in dec but they are calling her 2 because she will be 2 the day we check in...but she is not a BIG eater so I will share with her, it would be a waste to get her the ddp...

That is good - do they give her a room key to get into the parks - what if someone at the gate asks me how old? I assume I need to show proof of her age and then the date I checked in?

We have taken her twice around her 2nd BDay. Neither time we purchased DDP for her - but she was always able to eat from the buffet or our plates - I do remember ordering her some meals - but don't remember being charged - but I certainly could be wrong about that.

We celebrated our dd 3rd birthday at AK. I brought my reservation confirmation with me in case I needed it to prove that she was 2 when we checked in. I didn't end up needing it but I felt better having it. I would have hated having to get out of line and go get her a ticket. I do remember she did not have a room key or ticket. Also make sure you get a birthday pin. My dd had one on and we were chosen to be the first safari family it was really great.

It is correct that she will be treated as a 2yo her whole trip. You will not have to pay for the DDP for her and she will be allowed to eat free from buffets or from your plates. If you want her to have her own children's meal at non-buffet table service or at counter service you will need to pay.

What I did with DS was to share my counter service meals with him and use a snack credit to get something like a yogurt or fruit cup to supplement the meal for us. At table service we either purchased an appetizer and then shared my meal or else we bought him his own (most were ~$7.50 including drink, I think, for kids). He has a big appetite and that still worked fine for us.

She won't need a ticket to get into the parks. DS is off-the-charts for height and I got one or two "strange" looks when I said he was 2/turned-3-during-trip, but no one challenged it. (I did bring a copy of his birth certificate for my own peace of mind.) One waiter tried to charge him for the buffet when I told him he turned 3 on the trip, but when he checked with the manager the charge was removed.

We used the DP when DD was 2.5 and for restaurants where she wouldn't eat anything from our plates, we ordered her a children's meal. They made a seperate ticket, like they would if you got alcohol with your meal.
