Turn down is when housekeeping comes back to your room in the evening and takes out the trash, removes used towels and leaves more, turns down the bed, leaves a chocolate/candy, closes the curtains, and sometimes they turn on the tv to Disney information.
We really like it. We have stayed Club level and enjoy it.
I have requested it when not staying club level at a deluxe.

Oh nice! we are staying at a deluxe for the first time as an adult.... stayed at the poly when i was a teen but that seems ages ago haha

There is no additional fee for turndown service. I really like this additional level of service at a deluxe resort, and make sure that the mousekeepers know that as well. I leave a few extra dollars for them.

It is so nice to arrive "home" in the evening with the light on, the beds turned down, and towels and toiletries refreshed. WE tend to return to the room before dinner to shower, so the fresh linens are welcomed.

Once upon a time turndown service was automatic at all the deluxe resorts. Now you have to call to request it.

I'm curious why they still do it at the Grand Floridian (automatically) and not at the other deluxe resorts.

I believe it's because the GF is considered Disney's flagship resort.

I personally think its the height of laziness/extreme decadence to offer/use a service fo, basically fixing your bed and closing your curtains

On the few times I have stayed in any type of luxury hotel I did not like turn down service. I find it kinda creepy actually. Recently, I stayed a night at this fancy place for work. I usually leave the curtains open a little so I can see when I enter the room. I came in to ALL of the lights on (I mean ALL of them, even the makeup mirror) and the TV on as well. I'm thinking, why are all these lights on if nobody is in here? Of course, they then have a little card on the nightstand talking about how eco-friendly they are (it was about washing the bedding). I was only there for one night, but I generally want them to stay out of my room. The DND sign will take care of that!

Seconded. It seems very weird to me that, in an exaggerated version of the video posted above, you need someone to turn down the cover of your bed and close your curtains. I dont care how rich you are, you arent rich enough to be unable to get yourself ready for bed without assistance.

We stayed club level at the Contemporary for spring break and did not get the turn down service any of the nights we were there. I felt pretty disappointed. We had enjoyed it when staying at the GF (not club level that trip) and had believed it was included for all club level stays. When it didn't happen, we thought maybe they had taken it away because spring break was such a busy time or maybe we went to bed too early (we go to bed at 9 PM, yes even at WDW. Those 7 AM EMH are made for my family!!).

What time does housekeeping usually come to do the evening turn down service? Is it possible we just missed it? We would rest in our room from about 2 or 3 until 5, when we went to the lounge for refreshments and then off to dinner or a park.

Nice to know we can request it. If we ever stay club level again and don't get turn down service, I will request it!

What you find weird I find nice. I never ridicule others for vacation decisions that would not appeal to me, and I never question what anyone chooses to pay for.

I wouldn't request it, but I liked it when we stayed CL because I got chocolates. I don't care about the sheets being turned down or any of that.
