This is spun off of another thread were we couldn't find the answer. . .does anyone know if they offer free turndown service to everyone at WL upon request or is it just for concierge?
Thanks,
Lesley

We did get this when we stayed at WL but that was about 2 years ago now. We weren't in concierge, just a courtyard view. We did have to call to have it arranged but I can't for the life of me remember who we called. :confused3

So this was a free service? I am hoping they will honor this too. On another thread one person said they were told it was for concierge only, I sure hope not.

Lesley

It was free but DH did tip them as well. A few dollars I think.

I'd like to know too. We are staying in a courtyard view room, but would love the turndown service. With 3 kids it would be nice to have that each night as a little extra surprise. I would gladly (and happily!) tip the mousekeepers extra for this service.

Yes, it is free...just request it. I called housekeeping and asked for it as soon as we got into the room...but I think I maybe should have said something at check in. We were there for 4 nights and only got it the first night. I requested it for the duration of our stay. I actually made a point to try to be out of the room in the evening so I could come back to turndown, but they didn't do it (except first night) !

I guess I could have called after the second night...but I dunno...I just felt like I was being petty.

I requested it at AKL and got it every night...was really nice!

O.K. so I'm totally bummed. I decided to call WL front desk today so I'd know for sure and I was put on hold for awhile and then the CM came back and told me it was only for Concierge. Why does AKL do this for everyone, and all other deluxes but not WL, I'm kinda upset about that. I was looking forward to that luxury.

Whaaaaat? Well, then they changed their policy. You should post on the WL facts thread....maybe someone there will know. Even though you talked to a CM at WL...I really think that CM may have been wrong!! :sad2:

We stayed in a Dlx Savannah at AKL in early December and we didn't get turndown service.

I hope the CM was wrong. In other posts individuals who stayed at AKL received the turn down service every night and were not staying in concierge, it was just requested at check in. I thought this was a service you could request for no charge at all Disney deluxe hotels, I guess I was wrong.

Regina-It comes with cl level automatically, but if you are staying in a regular or deluxe room you must request it. :flower:

You have to request it every day. It is no big deal. I usually call for early room make-up before I leave for the parks anyway.

I'm the one who was just there over Easter and requested turn-down upon check in and was told it was only for concierge level. Maybe because it was a holiday and they were booked. I don't think it wuld hurt to ask upon you own check in, and if that doesn' work, try calling housekeeping when you get settled in. What do you have to lose? I'll try again next time we go.

Thanks for this, I was really looking forward to this and thought the kids would think it was a very special treat each night. What time is this typically done? With little kids we'll be returning from parks for a nap so we always request cleaning early in the morning while we're at the parks and then we return back around 8:30 nightly. I may just print this out but I don't want to seem too picky and pushy to the CM's at the desk, I just thought it was a service provided and think with the money we are paying it should be something we could arrange no problem. Thanks.

Lesley

Turndown service is typically available between 5:15 and 9:45. Just schedule the time that's most convenient for you.

I don't think asking them to honor a room amenity is being too picky or too pushy. Hopefully it will work out fine for you anyway. As an FYI, I know that tipping can become a debateable topic, but we did usually leave an envelope containing a few dollars each night for the turndown person. In addition to just leaving some chocolates and turning down your bedcovers, they also replenish towels and bathroom supplies that you might have used during the day.

We requested turn down at the Poly and it was spotty at best. I didn't do it for the kid as I really don't see what my DD would have been that excited about! LOL! Out of 10 nights there we got perfect turn down maybe twice. That was trash emptied, beds turned down, tv on, small mint on beds, towels replenished. After that it was hit or miss. Some days nothing, others just towels, and so on. It was more a pain then anything else and I won't be requesting it again.

Thanks Tammi,
I was planning on tipping. So did you just leave it on the nightstand? I was thinking 5 dollars for our family of 4 (two adults, one 4 year old and an infant)

You do have to request it, but it is definitely for *all* guests. Our mousekeeper at WL did fun things with Zane's toys when she turned down our beds, too!

I am pretty sure that everyone gets turndown for free when you ask for it .

I seem to remember once when we were going to stay in a reg. room they were going to doit but we changed it to a CL .

The times I have stayed at WL Cl they never missed our room and always had the towel animals watching the tv or looking out the window . Once the 2 towel dalmations left us a note saying they wanted us to know there would be a extra fireworks show at MK that we could see out of our window at 10:30pm ( Our Mousekeeper made them when she found out my DH is a Fireman how nice is that ?)
I have found all the Cm's there to be very kind ( guess I have been lucky) even the guy who parked our car for 9 days remembered me and even asked where my little nephew was 8mo's later when I came back
