Turkey legs - do they stand up to all the hype???

About $5, and they totally gross me out too!! I love turkey, but something about them turns my stomach.

Yep, love em! Very moist and flavorful, and not too fatty. My kids went nuts for them too! :) It's not like the turkey you eat on Thanksgiving though, it's almost red in color.

The LAST thing my family wants to do is eat a messy, greasy fowl leg while walking around a hot crowded park! I don't care how good they are--a sit down meal, good conversation with the DH, DS, and DD is not to be missed.
And before you poo-poo the prices--a turkey leg and drink for a family of 4 eaten on the run costs about the same as a couple of appetizers and drinks at a sit-down.

No matter what you crave--I would agree that everything tastes better at the World!!

See you on June 24 for 10 days:wave: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl:

FYI - you don't have to walk around with them. We found a couple of tables & sat ourselves down proper. Well, maybe not all that proper considering what we were eating. ;)

My brother, who is known for not liking big rides, went on the Aerosmith ride, the tower of terror and then aerosmith again...Well he thought he would make it back to the campgrounds without tossing his cookies, until some lady on the bus was sitting next to him and decided to open and feast upon her giant stinky turkey leg. He barely made it off the bus and lost himself in the bushes. Word to the wise.........Don't eat a turkey leg in closed quarters with other people around you. It's just too offensive.

We tried one during our last trip and were very disappointed. They always look and smell so good that our expectations were probably way too high. Anyway, the one we had was so salty and greasy that we couldn't finish it. Also, it was very stringy. Glad we got to try one, but won't do it again!!!

No offense to anyone .... but my DW and I always enjoy watching people walking around eating these things. Sometimes you just wish that you had a mirror to stick in front of them. I'm not saying this applies to all who eat turkey legs, but some people look really .... well ...... disgusting. We call them cavemen. I don't think that I'd ever get one just out of fear of how I would look :earseek:

After reading all of the hype, DH and I bought two last year. Both were gross, fatty, greasy, and were like a yuckier version of ham. The three kids wouldn't eat them and neither did we. It was such a waste of money.

Different strokes for different folks. It all depends on your tastes. We love them and a turkey leg is always a WDW snack at least once per trip. Now the Mickey rice krispie treats I can't stand--way too sweet. I am much more of a salt craver than a sweet craver so the turkey legs are right up my alley.

Well, they are tasty, but not worth the calories, IMO.

I haven't tried one yet . . .but I'm definately going to get one when we go in October.

They look good and I figured I must try it for myself.::yes::

I have had an absolutly wonderful time reading all the posts about the turkey/emu legs - thanks to everyone for writing in!!

I am still indifferent about buying one - it will probably depend on how the day is going. In Sept. it can be very hot and when I am boiling hot I don't have much of an appetite. So...we will just have to see;)

Keep the reviews coming!!:wave2:

I would definately get one. I had one while we waited in our seats for Fantasmic!!! It was excellent and it made the wait go by faster!!

EMU?! Heh?! :crazy2: I've tried whacky things...but EMU? Is this true? :worried:

I used to LOVE the smell of them and each time I'd say I'm gonna try one! Well, this past Dec., I finally did at Tuluca Turkey Legs (MGM) and I threw it out. I was pretty disappointed, it was slimy and pretty...salty. (But I didn't have the courage that most ppl have, I sat in a corner and ate it w/ a knife and fork facing the wall  )

But it was kinda a waste, I took a few bites and blehhh....instead, I went for a mystery meat hot dog to fill my tummy.
