Turkey legs - do they stand up to all the hype???

One to many Emu's missing a leg hopping around on a wooden peg to really think those are Turkey legs.::yes:: :teeth: :wave2: Just Kidding

They didn't thrill me at all... I love turkey legs at the Renassaince Festival and just about all Carnivals. These failed to compare in my book. Maybe it was the "ham" taste.

I usually have no problem with others eating meat but those Turkey legs just made me sick to my stomach.

those turkey legs are gross...the taste is ok, it's the tendons or something that run thru them that gross me out...but, many swear by them

Last time we were there the boys had to try one.....well they ate about 1/4 of it and then said they were full.......which translates to yuck. DW and I both tried some before throwing it away. Neither of us eat chicken or turkey skin so didn't try that, but the meat inside was so greasy, won't do it again.

Last May we were near CoP and a young girl had one and said "mommy all the grease is running down my arm"... I would not mind trying one, but I am happy with my weekly diet of chicken strips and fries, chicken stips and fries, chicken strips and fries chicken........

Okay, these things always smell so darn good. We had one a few trips ago and YUUUUCK! My DH was so grossed out, he can't even stand the smell now. I still think they smell really good and once in awhile am even tempted to try again. DH quickly reminds me that they are greasy and just taste gross. I think there was too much smoke flavor. I love turkey, I love ham, but those things are a no way for us now. And yeah, we heard they were emu too.

I've never had one and I don' think I ever will. Just walking by the stands grosses me out.

I tried one on our last trip last summer in August; my husband and daughter were totally grossed out. My daughter even took a picture of me eating that thing. I always wanted to try one and now that I have I won't ever again - yech! Lots of fat and tendon type things running through it. I totally lost my appatite for it after the first couple of bites. Not worth the money in my opinion.

Honestly, you have to get one just for the picture! One of my favorite pictures from our honeymoon is of my husband pearing over that giant leg as he took a bite. Plus, he's a bit of a ham so he really played it up! He looked like a caveman!

When we went in December, we stumbles upon the cart in Frontierland. Well, we were 2 families totalling 8 people & we each got one. The kids made sure they had pictures of everyone with that big ol' leg in their mouth. :p It was just fun!

Now they ARE big & I did not finish mine for that reason. The other DH in the group liked them so much, he picked one up as a second course (after lunch) at Epcot. I am sure we will dine on them again this June. ::yes::

Yes, I too had read all of the hype about these things. So, finally, during our trip this past Jan, our family broke down and purchased one in Tomorrowland. Our DS had the first bite. He made a funny face, said nothing and passed it to DH. DH took a bite, made the same funny face, said nothing and passed it to me. I took a bite. I am pretty sure I made the same face as the other two. I took a couple of steps and in the garbage that leg went. ISSSHHHY! EWWY! Never again!

I think that the turkey legs are amazing. I would go to the park just for the turkey legs. Parks like Six Flags have tried to mimic what Disney does and noone can get anywhere near as good as they are at Disney!!! I eat at least one each day I am there. MMMMMMMM!!!!

I was all set to get one after reading all the rave reviews over the years, but ran into my sister and brother in law after they'd both just tossed theirs in the trash. They too were so excited to have them they didn't want to share and each got their own. Each took a bite and -- blech.

I decided to take their word for it and save the $

Let me just say that I am NOT a vegetarian. I love turkey. I always eat turkey at Thanksgiving, etc. But those turkey legs gross me out. I can barely stand to look at them. A girl was eating one in front of us in line once and the smell almost made me sick! I am not sure why but they really turn my stomach.

Sorry ...

But I love dole whips!

I agree maggiew, to me they look like something that Fred Flintstone would eat. :faint: (they need an emoticon for "yucky"!)

I do not know what happened, but I was eating and all of a sudden..................
