Turkey Day Gang 2009

Hey Jodie,

They announced a new deal...now through March 27, buy 4 nights at a Mod or Deluxe and get 7 (so you get 3 free nights/days); buy 5 at a Value and get 7 (getting 2 free).

We're thinking about the end of March....but we may just take another cruise!

Karen

I'm guessing they've blacked out the time around Christmas, right? I'll email you the crowd calendar to help you decide on dates.

Hi everyone! Quick question - does it look like the Magic and Wonder will both be at Castaway Cay on November 27th? If so, it seems it would be very crowded! Thanks in advance for your help. I am getting into vacation mode now!

The 2 ships have never been dock or had passengers at the same time on the island,it would be WAY to crowded. We had the Wonder do a sail by and the two ships did dueling horns one Thanksgiving:thumbsup2

Hi all!

Just checking in since it's been a while. I'm still adjusting to the working mom thing and time seems rather precious these days. Wow, these past few weeks have been an eye-opener re: reading skills. I've seen kids who read WAY beyond their grade level, yet met a 2nd grader who didn't know all the letters (recently moved here, so it's not an indication of our schools). Frightening. And very sad to witness.

I updated the FE List with our room number, but I would love to upgrade at port. (hey, stop snickering! the ship isn't sold out yet!) :rotfl2:

LK4 -- we had your cabins on our last cruise! we loved them!

We're SO EXCITED about the cruise and I can hardly wait! I recently confirmed all our "stuff" -- airfare, hotel, transfers, etc. I still need to decide on FE stuff, finalize our packing list, and lose 50 lbs. :rotfl:

:offtopic: Anyone else have kids who do Destination Imagination?? (it's a creative problem solving competition)

Jodie! :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl::laughing:

This is my 3rd year coaching DD10's team -- do your kids still do it?? I was just wondering which challenges teams were doing. My team is currently divided and *might* be leaning toward the improv challenge. Typically, they choose the challenge that requires the most scenery, building, drilling, hammering, painting, etc. and I wind up giving up my garage (and sanity!) for a couple of months. But with improv... NO SETS! NO SCENERY! :cloud9: We'll see what they decide.

Just realized you're VA, too -- have you gone to the State tournament? Maybe we've already met!

Anyone else do DI?

It is currently not possible for two ships to be docked at Castaway Cay.....pretty much every Thanksgiving we see the Wonder sail past the Magic. Some place I have an awesome picture of both ships from last year.

My son did it for the first and only time in 3rd grade. It was the first year our school participated, and our leader was . . . clueless. There was a huge lack of direction. In general, it was a big mess. Unfortunately, that turned my son off, so he hasn't tried it again. I think the concept is great - a nice program, but you have to have a good leader/coach. Ha - no, never State. We went to our local competition here in Richmond. Good luck with it. You must be a saint for leading it!!

Michelle, my fiancee (DW when we cruise) and I are in 2074. Mind you I am a little confused :confused3since we booked an Alaskan cruise for 2011. So I may be getting that cabin mixed up with this one. If it is different, I will let you know!!!:)

Chuck, I understand about wearing pants instead of shorts. I am a native Floridian. My idea of getting dressed is shorts, a t-shirt and flip-flops. However, when it comes to formal night on the ship...tuxedo and nothing else will do for me.

For those who have seen my FE, a little explanation. The reason there are 7 pockets and only 2 of us, each pocket is for each day of the cruise except for the last day, which is disembarkation day. The second day, which is when formal night is, we have off to the side of that pocket some black bowties.

For those who were talking about MSU, Ole Miss and LSU...I live in Gainesville. Yes, I am a Gator fan, but I also support all the SEC teams. We happen to be getting married on the day the Gators head to play MSU. Our service will be over in time to watch the game!!!:woohoo:

Charlie

If it makes you feel better, I am getting my master's degree from UF. I guess that makes me a gator too (even though I'm a State bulldog first).

Rob,
I didn't think both ships could be in Castaway Cay at the same time either, but when I checked the "cruise ships in port" link under the DCL FAQ, and looked at 11/27/09 it shows both the Wonder and Magic there that day!! If you look at the Wonder's itinerary for that week that would match up. From what I have read here on the boards, Castaway Cay is very crowded with only one ship docked! Do you think it is possible that both ships will visit that day? Or am I reading things wrong? Hope so. Thanks!

I am not Rob, but I know for a fact both ships cannot dock at the same time and I was talking to friends who live aboard the ship last night and they verified only ship at a time right now. I think the wonder should be sea day then Castaway Cay though it is posted CC then sea day.

But I asked my husband to double check with a friend.

Oh Michelle, thank you for checking on that for me. It didn't seem like both ships could be there at the same time, but it is strange that the Wonder itinerary is wrong. I would think they would visit Castaway Cay on Saturday rather than Friday too.

Michelle - we do have two Leahs sailing with us. One is my DD, and the other one is her BFF. :) Thanks for checking!

Thank you all for making the changes to the FE List.

I have a few things I would like double checked please.

LK4-I have Leah in two rooms. Are there two Leahs or did I make a mistake

Dustermom-will you double check all the info I have listed for you. It is under the GTY area

Thanks for putting this together. I will add it in printed format to our Mini Navigator...

Also we are in Room 2068

Tinkerbell 99 Mom

I guess I forgot to post that, if you could update us.

Wendy

I have updated the list with everyones information. Also, once everyones room info is finalized I wil make it look nice and I can send it in word.

OK - i have all the required info for the dinner link from all except for Leslie traveling alone who I do not think I have seen a recent post - the original list was on page 120 and the copy was on 163, so she would have been somewhere in the 100 and teens I would think...if anyone knows her screen name, please PM her...thnx

Chuck:cool1:
Hi Chuck,

I just sent you a PM with my information. Sorry I have been trying to keep up with all the posts but have not been very successful.

Thanks again,

Leslie

Hi everyone, just checking in!

I was driving to work this morning and daydreaming (which is a really bad habit of mine since I have a 45 minute commute) and thinking, "Yeah, it's October" and then, "Oh, My, it's OCTOBER" which means that sense of having "plenty of time" before the cruise is no longer true! I guess that's a benefit of being so busy at the beginning of a new school year that you can hardly breathe - it makes the time go by so fast!

Oh, at the sermon on Sunday our priest was talking about, basically false idols (more or less) and how we can get "addicted to things...." DD said that maybe I was addicted to the DisBoards :rotfl:

I guess that since I can't be cruising as much or as often as I'd like, I can still be active and helping my fellow cruisers to be on the main board, right? and that's a good thing. you know, helping others, imparting knowledge, etc....

Hope everyone is keeping healthy. H1N1 is speading like wildfire down here!

Ooooh, I forgot... now that its getting closer...

any guesses what movies we'll see on board? Do we only get Disney movies or might there be a chance to see New Moon?

I am betting we get both the Christmas Carol and The Princess and the Frog. Last year on the Nov 15 Western we got the Bolt PremEAR. I bet we get Princess and the Frog PremEAR at Midnight.

Thanks everyone for the PM...

We have a lot of good ideas for the mini navigator...

I will have them at the port (thought we would be there early, but may take the Disney Transportation from Animal Kingdom Lodge, which might put us at the port late) But will have them at the sail away party...

Trying to get a handle on everyone..

Please let me know if I left anyone out
