Turkey Day Gang 2009

Because I am lazy and forgetful, I don't want to go through the many pages we have on this thread to find out if this was said originally. My fiancee' and I are making our FE and this thought came to me. Will we get a list of staterooms that are participating as it gets closer to the sail date?

We got our 'vacation planner' yesterday. My fiancee', April, wants to do the kayaks and snorkel on CC. I think she circled about 300 excursions that looked fun!!!! Maybe she thinks we can clone each other!!!

Here's the FE list.
It won't have cabin #s yet because of possible upgrades, etc. It'll have to be updated before we sail.

Thanks Rob and Christine. April had that question for me as well so I thought I would post it. I will be on the lookout for it when it gets closer.

Hi from a much cooler Lisbon! It's about midnight here...nearly 6 p.m. CDT. Today the sun was out all day (not a cloud in sight) and the humidity was much lower and so was the heat! I had a great day of meetings...very successful, ate an incredible lunch of huge prawns drenched in butter, olive oil and garlic accompanied by asparagas and a salad with chunks of blue cheese and apples in it. It was one of the best meals I have ever had. I had 6 prawns...each of which was about 14 inches long from tail to head...so the portion that I eat (which isn't the head...yuck) was about 8 inches long. Talk about scrumptious....YUM! We were also served a spread of appetizers including fresh cheese, smoked and dried ham, bread, marinated olives (some stuffed too with crab or garlic). And, get this...my lunch (including appetizer, salad, entree and still water) was 16 Euro! I'm told that Lisbon is one of the more affordable European cities and I believe it.

Belem is gorgeous! There is this building called the Mosteiro dos Jeronimos. It's an old monastery and the facade of it is absolutely incredible! Unfortunately, we didn't make it to Sintra today, but I am going there and Cascais-Estoril (a beach area) tomorrow -- it's about 30 minutes from Lisbon and supposed to be wonderful!

All in all, Portugal is is one place I really, really want to bring Andrew and Steve back to enjoy with me.

Oh yeah, there is also this shell (relic?) of a Catholic Church where the roof collapsed on All Saints Day in 1755 (following an earthquake) and killed the entire congregation. The shell still stands as a memorial to the congregation and earthquake. The train station in the City Center of Lisbon is a gorgeous neo-Moorish building...very beautiful. The one thing that amazes me is that all of the side walks are these chunks of stone, usually laid in a pattern with white, black and red stones, and it is usually perfectly level...not a trip hazard anywhere!

All in all, I'd definitely recommend a stop in Portugal. I'll be able to tell you more about Sintra tomorrow night. Until then....

Karen, keep posting. I love hearing about Portugal. I'm passing all of your experiences to my neighbor who will be visiting Lisbon soon.

Wow...what a day! Meetings, fundraising, schmoozing...I'm tired! But I also snuck in a quick trip to Sintra, Cascais, Estoril and another town that I can't remember the name of right now. Talk about gorgeous! We went to the castle in Sintra...had coffee (tea in my case) and an incredible pastry in Sintra, stuck my toes in the sand and water in Estoril and a town that begins with a G....had Gelato in another town somewhere...it was AMAZING!

I really want to bring Steve and Andrew back with me to Portugal. I have lots of photos and (if I can figure out how) I'll post them so you all can see.

Until then....adeus and obrigado (bye and thank you),

Karen

Was it the custard one???

J

I split a custard one with a colleague and we also shared another one that was kinda like a tough croissant that had apples and cinnamon in the middle with sugar sprinkled all over the outside. They were both terrific!

I'm back in the states now...started laundry at 6 am which feels like Noon to me. I'm trying to get ready to go to my parents lake house for the weekend (ugh!). The Ugh isn't because I don't enjoy the lake house nor is it because I don't enjoy my parents...it's just that I'm tired and...welll...let's just say that my house looks like 2 boys have been living here all week by themselves without a maid to clean up behing them;)! Guess that's what my Monday "comp day" is for!

That seemed like a quick trip. Good luck transitioning back to the "real world." I'm glad you guys will be able to go on the cruise. I'm really looking forward to it. My friend/neighbor might back out - am trying to convince her to come. November feels like a long way off - hate to wish the summer away, but I sure do wish it would hurry and get here already!

My mother had some extra room in a condo they are renting at Hilton Head, so they invited us to come down. Mike won't be able to go (darned work), but the kids and I are going. I don't look forward to the 8 hour drive though - thinking about taking the train.

Enough from me - hope everyone is enjoying their summer!! :goodvibes

You're welcome Sherri. That brings a smile to my face knowing that I made a child happy. It has been 4 years since my last Disney cruise or any cruise for that matter. Can't wait until we are in double digits!!!!:cool1:

Hi everyone,

We got our cruise docs while I was gone....they were there when I picked up the mail today. Needless to say, Andrew is ready to do backflips and I'm pretty excited too. Now, if we can just decide which shore excursions to take.....!

Oh yes, and we have cabin 7631 (as of right now). Yes, that's right...the one you can park 4 Mini Coopers in!

Karen

Hiya all - wow all the way on page three! sheeeesshhhh

well today I started my SUMMER vacation - yahoo - two weeks of time off - I will have to pop back in and out of work and probably work from home a few hours - but oh well - at least I can sleep in :)

I am trying to budget for the trip - we have 650.00 in OBC / Disney Dollars -- so I am thinking that if I pony up about another 500 - It should be a good deal - you think so? we are only doing our own excursions and that will only cost about 200 ----

I noticed that there hasn't been a post since 7-9-09. 130 days from today and we are cruisin'!!!!:cool1::banana::woohoo::yay:
