Turkey Day Gang 2009 Thread #2

Hope everyone who got hit hard with the snow has dug out or at least close to it.

Chuck and Lisa, we, on the northern part of the state, had upper 30s on Monday and Tuesday for the low. Tomorrow will be lower 70s for the high. Crazy rollercoaster weather in FL!!!!:scared1:

Karen, how is Andrew doing? I noticed you said he had the stomach flu or virus. That is no joke. I've had that more times than I care to remember.

Rob, it's great to hear Rachel is doing better.

April is at the tail end of her coughing. So I will say she is on the road to recovery.

Charlie

Stomach flu virus has swept through our household. Andrew Thursday night/Friday a.m.; Steve Saturday night/Sunday a.m.; me Tuesday afternoon/Thursday morning -- even the dog had sympathy pains and threw up in her kennel this morning!

Good news is we are all better -- Andrew and Steve completely back to normal and I'm feeling human again (though very sore)!

Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas. We've got the inlaws and outlaws celebrations. We missed one with Steve being sick -- now we're down to 2. The good news is that I moved our Christmas Eve celebration to Sunday to ensure the bugs are gone from this house so we just have my mom and dad's on Friday -- and then dinner for 12 at our home on Sunday.

Take care all! Hope those that have been ill are on the mend and those who have had to shovel are all dug out.

Karen

We are getting ready for our family invasion.... Every Bedroom in our house will be full for the next several days... !!!

We are on the final stretch...

Heading to barn to feed all the animals and then to church.

Merry Christmas

Wendy

well it is xmas at wdw...and the weather is terrible...but rain should clear out about 230pm...anyway, happy holidays to all.

Chuck:cool1:

To all the Turkeys celebrating Christmas, I wish you a merry one. Hope Santa was good to you.:santa::santa:

Hope everyone survived the Holiday....

Our snow has finally melted and getting ready a few more inches this week.

Wendy

'Twas the Monday after Christmas
And all through the house
Every creature was stirring
Even the dog's squeaky mouse!

The children were nestled
no glued...to the new PS3
While visions of sunshine
faded in and out of the trees!

Well all, that's the best I can do for right now. Hope everyone had a very Merry Holiday! I'm truly fortunate to be off all week and I'm planning on doing a major reorganization of my home office to get ready for the New Year! Poor Steve had to brave the 10 degree wind chills this morning and trudge off to work and Andrew and I are awaiting the invasion of cousins today that all want to come over and play.

Hope everyone survived their inlaws and outlaws this holiday.

Expecting mid-30's tonight in this "tropical" paradise of Orlando...and the sam in S Florida...but the Marriott World Center is a sea of green and orange and the team is staying here too. Go Canes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi All -

I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday! We just saw my sister and family back to Florida this morning. Her little one, 3yrs, had never seen snow before!! She was just hilarious, she refused to wear socks, FL girl that she is, but did wear boots in the snow. We had lots of fun visiting and sharing our pictures from the cruise. Now I just need to get them uploaded and printed.

Please tell me when it is that a lot of people booked on the Dream- 1 year 7 months... What day is that exactly? Is it a CC double dip? I really can't handle the math.

I just traded in ALL our frequent flyer miles for tickets to Barcelona next August for the Med cruise with my parents and in-laws. Been saving them for the last 17 years. It just hit me that I'm 40 now and my parents are turning 70 and there just isn't tons of time to do trips together. And my MIL was in a wheel chair last Thanksgiving ('08) at WDW because of hip problems. Should be interesting since I'm afraid of flying. I'm not sure - is this a mid-life crisis? If so, its not so bad!

I'll be heading back to work tomorrow. I hope everyone has a very happy new year!

And Karen - I hear you - I forget what my kid's faces look like - they've been staring at the Nintendo DS's they got for Christmas so much I think I only recognize the tops of their heads now.

Hi All -

Hi Paula,

I don't think it's a mid-life crisis....I think its all about understanding reality! Besides, what a great gift to your parents and to your children....the opportunity to vacation together and build memories that they will both cherish.

As far as flying goes....it's not a big deal. The kids may have a hard time with the length of the flight so bring along special goodies that they only get to have on the plane. Maybe bring along little wrapped presents to "celebrate" making it half way, etc. Bring along snacks (food is awful and limited) and maybe those koolaid single serve packs if you don't want the kids to have tons of soda. Also bring along a favorite DVD or two (for the plane and the hotel since most European hotels will have limited "English" or "American" shows....and most of them will be news :(! If you can, consider taking an Ambien and knocking yourself out for the flight....though with little ones that may be hard to do! Personally though, I have a harder time coming this way from Europe than I do going that way.

Take care,

Karen

For those of you that do not want to wait till 2011 for a turkey reunion come join us July 24th 2010 on the Carnival Dream. This is a NEW ship with a great western itinerary :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 She is sailing out of port Canaveral. Hit me up with any questions.

Rob

Rob: if it were any cruise line other than Carnival, we would look closely at it...for reasons we have posted before, we just will not travel on Carnival...hope you have a good trip though.

Chuck:cool1:

Rob - thanks for the info. Jack is ready to cruise again so we'll look into it. Might be a bit more than the vacation budget will allow. I like leaving out of Port Canaveral as I can usually get cheaper airfare to MCO than I can elsewhere in FL.

Paula - how special that you'll be able to provide those kinds of memories to your children. They'll pull through for you - you'll see.

Happy New Year everyone! We miss you all!

Just wanted to wish my Turkey friends a Happy New Year!!! Here's hoping we meet up on future cruises -- be it 2010 or 2011! (we'll be on the infamous 8/16/11 Dream...)

Although it's 3 days late, I would like to also wish everyone a happy New Year. Rob, we hope that you and Priscilla have a great time.

Stay warm everyone. We will have a low tomorrow of 18. To some of you, that's warmer than what you are experiencing, but that's cooooold for us here in Florida!!!!

Charlie

Expecting low 30's here tonight and a wind chill even lower.
