Turkey Day Gang 2009 Thread #2

Hi everyone,

We looked at the Oasis and keep thinking...wow, that's too big! Lisa, if you decide to cruise it, you'll have to give us a review! I think the Flow Rider sounds like fun....but really, a carousel and other stuff too? Not too sure about it.

Our summer plans have just been booted out the window. Steve's plant went on strike and so now we wait to see when they go back. In the interim, Steve (who's mgmt) begins working 12 on and 12 off on Monday night until who knows when. Four years ago, the plant was out 11 weeks....this time, it feels like the company is in it for the duration so we think it's gonna be a long summer!

We miss everyone and think of you all often. Haven't begun posting much on the August 16, 2011 Dream thread. It's just not the same without all my Turkey friends!

Well for now, I am bumping this thread back up...wonder if there is a way to modify the title of this existing thread to reflect the new cruise also..

Chuck:cool1:

I sent a PM to the moderators about keeping this thread alive as a retitled #3 thread...waiting for a response...for August 2011 Dream that is...will update...I suggested giving a somewhat non-specific date, ie limiting it to month and year...

Thanks for checking on this... I have posted a couple of times on the August 16 thread..... Looks like a good group but would like to stay connected with our gang.

Hi guys! Just popping in to say "Hey." We received our cruise stuff for the Easter 2011 cruise we booked while on the Turkey cruise. Just not sure I can justify the 2 cabins again and keep comparing it to renting DVC points for a 2bdroom for a week at WDW. Yikes, its waaayyyy cheaper to go to WDW. Disney just doesn't make it easy for big families. Plus, even though we had two cabins on the cruise, everyone ended up in the veranda room and it just wasn't that relaxing to be so crowded.

Anyway, no need to bug you with my rambling thoughts about WDW vs. DCL.

Hope everyone has a wonderful summer!

OK, I have not heard back from the moderators so we need to decide whether to create a thread #3 on this thread (remember this one is #2), and re-title it "Turkeys on the Dream in August 2011" or similar...or join the existing thread..

Chuck:cool1:

Well after much debate, i think I am (somewhat reluctantly) inclined to join the other thread, though the thought of maintaining a separate Facebook page or the like as well is another suggestion...I just have a gut feeling that keeping a separate thread will bite us, though if we collectively don't fit in on the main thread I am not opposed to starting one anyway...in the meantime, I will likely keep this thread alive to see how things work out...

Chuck:cool1:

I think Chuck is right... We just need to get in on the other thread... They are great people and are very active.... We can still maintain our dining link and other items if we want to.

They do have a great website with lots of great cruise information.

Hi guys. Wore my Turkey tee shirt today, such wonderful memories. I am all for a separate Facebook page or maybe just keep this thread going. Miss you all.

Update - I heard back from the moderator....they will permit us to run a second thread...that said, I will stand by my prior comments and suggest we join the other thread, though we could keep this one alive or a Facebook page etc...

As to the dinner link, I already presume we have at a minimum, :

Eiss
Long
Anderson
Fain
Eisenstein
Cassidy
Wong

and probably a couple others whose last names I cannot think of this minute.

Hi everyone!

Hey Chuck...our reservation is under Steve's last name...Goewert...and now you know why I have continued to use Cassidy (my maiden name).

Seriously though, I used to work for a Member of Congress and got the lecture of "people who contact their Congressman are not always normal, please use another name to work under since your husband's last name is distinctive." It made a lot of sense to me, and I assure you that people who contact their Congressman are not always normal. I had one jerk who threatened to kill me...went so far as to send me a ticking clock with a note that "the next one might be real"...and I had to go everywhere with Federal Marshall's for nearly 3 weeks until they caught him and locked him up. It was an interesting job.

Speaking of which....I'm now down to 6 days to go....wooo hoooo!

Karen: we have your name on Facebook...I knew Steve's last name was different, but I really did not remember how to get close on the spelling.

Hi everyone,

I was thinking about the 2011 cruise today and it got me to thinking about all of you. Andrew and I have been looking at DVC floorplans for a while and finally convinced Steve that it was time to buy DVC. We submitted our resale bid today for an SSR contract and it was accepted. Now we wait for Disney's right of first refusal proces....and we all now how patient I am :rotfl2:! Yes, the next few weeks are going to be interesting at our house!

Hope everyone is doing well. Thanksgiving isn't going to be the same without lobster on the cruise!

Sorry Chuck, guess I was "out of it" for a while with leaving the old job. Steve's last name is Goewert. Hope that helps.
