Turkey Day Gang 2009 Thread #2

The only bad thing about the boards is that I havne't learn to navigate them that well and I get exhausted from reading trying to find info I am looking for so I will ask the experts:

1) Is anyone staying at a hotel near the port on Friday night before the cruise? I know quite a few offer free shuttle to the pier and you can leave your car at the hotel for the week. Good idea or more of a pain in butt?

2) FE........General run down of what everyone does? We live in the Central Florida Area so we have access to a lot of things Disney so quick idea list would be nice.

I know a lot of you are traveling a long way to get here so not trying to put pressure on you to help me but any help would be nice.

Nevermind - I just refreshed the FE listing :)
I found both rooms --- so now I should be ok....

I will do a final print tomorrow night :) and I hope I get everyone :)

1. Hiya -- I am flying out of NH this weekend - and staying in Orlando for the week before the cruise :) We are going to stay at the Hyatt hte night before the cruise and meet up with my sister and her husband as they will be flying in that Friday. We are taking the Disney Shuttle to the port :) I have heard there are many good places to leave your car - but sorry I have not done that....

2. FE - I did a bag per room - a few trinkets in each bag and one homemade gift. I shipped a box of FE gifts to my cousin who lives in FL so all my stuff should ( SHOULD !) safely be in Orlando waiting for me when I arrive this weekend.... if they are ruined then I guess I will be rushing to do FE bags again :scared1:

My DD is about your children's age so they should all be in the Stack together :)

Welcome to the thread Kim and Patrick!! We are assembling our FE gifts on the Magic. As a result, we have plenty of FE gifts to share!! :cool1: :thumbsup2
Please join in the fun!! :yay: :woohoo: :yay: :woohoo: Welcome to the thread!!

Alright. Done creating the name tags. Now just waiting for the Avery labels to arrive tomorrow and I can start printing. So far 130 names. Here's a sample:

Again, anyone not on the google FE List but wishes to have name tags for the cruise meet, please post your name here.

Thx and good nite.
Chun

1) Is anyone staying at a hotel near the port on Friday night before the cruise? I know quite a few offer free shuttle to the pier and you can leave your car at the hotel for the week. Good idea or more of a pain in butt? We have left our car in the Radisson in the past. We prefer to park at the port. It is more convenient after the cruise to pack up the car and drive home for us. When we parked at the Radisson we had to load all of our luggage in the luggage van, go to the Carnival area, pick up more passengers, drive to the Radisson, unload and walk a pretty good distance to where our car was parked.

2) FE........General run down of what everyone does? We live in the Central Florida Area so we have access to a lot of things Disney so quick idea list would be nice. We have done various things for FE gifts. Toys, candy, gift depending on the holiday, etc. This year we are giving one gift per person sailing--for both children and adults.

I know a lot of you are traveling a long way to get here so not trying to put pressure on you to help me but any help would be nice.

Hope this info helps!!

Chun - name tags are great

Good morning everyone! We're in single digits now!

We leave for our vacation one week from today!

Those of us going to MVMCP on Friday night need to decide where and when to meet if we're going to be doing that.

Question about the bracelets? I never ordered them. How long did they take to get for those of you who ordered?

Thanks for the drink ideas... looks like the Konk Cooler will be the choice for the first day, now about the six others....:rolleyes1 :rotfl:

Thanks for the recipe Christine... will dry this weekend.

Karen... Look for scrooge Mcduck behind the castle by the christmas trees next to the poohland if that makes sense. He is hard to catch...

Welcome Patrick & Kim

You are joining a great group of cruisers. Many of us will meet at the port area on Saturday morning... I think close to 70 or so will be in Blue T-shirts with our Turkey Logo...

I will have a little navigator of meets and other fun activities for the week.

Chun:

I can't stand the wait!!!! :cool1::yay::dance3::woohoo:

Chun - the name tags are fabulous!!! Thank you so much!

Welcome aboard to our new cruisers!

I think our bracelets came in fairly quickly, but your best bet is to contact the seller.

Why does work get in the way of cruising??? So far this week I have received 2 separate last minute cruise offers (non DCL, but still....). One was for a 7 night cruise leaving this Saturday for (drumroll, please) $198 pp and the other was a 7 night cruise leaving Sunday for $194 pp... Oh My Goodness. Someone tell me WHY I have to work? Oh, yeah, to feed and clothe DD... but still, it's not fair with deals like this out there!

I know what you mean!! I got an email yesterday for interline rates on the Liberty of the Seas for $199 per person!! Crazy! I would love to do one of those ships.....I've done the Mariner and the Voyager, but I'd love the bigger ones!

Have a great day!

How in all that is holy did you get THAT offer? I would LOVE to do a cruise that inexpensively!

OK...eyes are back in my head now.

Welcome, welcome, welcome to our newest families joining us on the Turkey sailing!

Chun, I LOVE the name tags. Andrew will love them too.

Tonight is the "unveiling" of Peter and the Sword of Mercy by Pearson and Barry....and the last night before my grants are due :scared1:! I still think I can do both (I'll just have to sleep on Saturday!).

We are so incredibly excited at our house...the BIG final countdown has begun...and I still need to make that list of all the things that still must be done. Ah well...we'll get there.

To those going to MVMCP....are we meeting by the Mickey and Walt (aka Partners) statue at 9ish?

More later.

Karen

Good morning!!

Man, I had 3 pages to read since last night!! :)

My favourite drinks: Mojito, Pina Colada and a basic rum punch. I will try the Conch Cooler this time!!!

Chun, GREAT name tags! :thumbsup2

The map of the MVMCP is very helpful. I think we'll aim to see the 8:15 parade. Does anyone know if we'll be able to get in the park for sure at around 4pm?

One week from right now (10am) and we'll be landing in Orlando!:banana::banana:
