Turf Club at SSR- opinions needed.

We just returned today and I have to post that the Turf club was my favorite meal during the entire trip.

I KNOW!! We loved the Turf Club and look forward to many, many return visits. Just today I was in a store with one of our DSs and we passed by some specialty BBQ sauce. I mentioned that it looked OK, but nothing like the apple BBQ sauce at the Turf Club - he agreed! :goodvibes

Could you tell me what entrees were listed on the menu. The menus that are available on-line are terribly outdated! (Were there lamb chops, ribs, stuffed chicken?)

I barely remember as it was last week. Most of my guys had the NY strip and said it was great. I had the pasta/shrimp dish and it was the best pasta dish I had. We also had the lava cake and it was hot and served with ice cream. It was better than the wave at CR. And the service was top notch. We will go back. Most of the other meals we had were average or below average. We were mostly disappointed in most of our TS and CS meals this trip. I do plan to write about an incident I had at the Sci Fi with a piece of plastic on my hamburger.

Oh, I also agree. Almost every menu on allears was outdated. We encountered no filet at Kona or Captain's Grill. Also the shrimp entree is gone on the WCC menu (still on the skillet).

We really liked it when we went last fall. The horse races must be new, or maybe the horses were pastured when we were there in October. The races make sense to go with the SSR theme, but the restaurant (IIRC) isn't really laid out well for them.

The food is solid, the setting is classy and not loud (the races may have changed that one), and I made an ADR at the podium around lunch for dinner that night.

Just wanted to mention that we were there during dinner and is was quiet and classy (as you said). There were no races going on and we were there more than 1 hour for our relaxing meal. We had 2 little ones with us for a 5:30PM seating.

This past december we stay at Saratoga. It was about 30 degrees for our entire trip. We came back in the afternoon to rest, and were planning on heading back out to the park. We were so freezing cold and tired that we did not want to go back out. A nice warm restaurant and a glass of wine was just what we needed. We had not heard anything about the Turf Club, but walked over and were seated (it was still early for dinner).

There was heavy cloud cover, and I think it was raining too. It was just so nice in there, and the food was great! It's one of my favorites. I guess what made it so great, is it felt like home! : )

Has anyone mentioned how great the view can be? Whether from a window table or on the patio it's a classic setting!

Count me in as another Turf Club Fan. We love the atmosphere (understated, classy, not so noisy) and we enjoy eating out on the patio. I love their prime rib and steaks and the Turf Club Potatoes are delish. Very similar (as in maybe the same) as the potatoes O'Hana was serving awhile back. Amazing desserts, I had this chocolate lava cake that was incredible. It was right behind Yachtsmen for our June trip (15 nights on the DDP + 2 nights OOp, we ate a lot of places in June) as far as favorites.

I made an ADR for Saturday. We like eating at Turf Club.
However I will say we had absolutely horrible service just a few weeks ago. :sad2: I swore it would be awhile before returning, or at least never return without an ADR. (They were extremely unorganized, and busy, but no where near as busy as unorganzied and pretty much worthless as the seating people were. No one was being seated, and there were PLENTY of empty tables. When we saw guests flagging down ANYONE to pay their bills, we knew that was a bad sign and left without being seated. It seemed not near enough CMs there had a clue to what to do and how.)
However, for various reasons we are returning Saturday. With an ADR and being there for dinner we will probably be just fine and have a normal meal and service.
