Turbo tax home and business box set.

I have used turbo tax on-line for the past couple years but was wondering what the difference is between going directly to the online site and buying the box at the store. I also was wondering if you buy the box can you do more that one tax return for separate people. Thank for all the help.

The main advantage of using the cd version is that you can amend a return after it's been filed. If you filed online and need to amend a return, you'll have to pay again if the amending takes place after Turbo Tax removes the online files to get ready for the next tax year. Sometimes people will amend a return years later. If you have the cd version, you can amend a return anytime for free.

You can also e-file up to 5 federal returns on one cd. Many people don't know this, but if you usually end up taking the standard deduction which uses the 1040A form, you can use and e-file with Turbo Tax for free online and don't have to pay anything. Same goes for the EZ form, which is what teenagers use.

does the cd version still save all of it online or would it have to be saved/backed up?

You have to save it as a document with the cd version. We have done that version for the last 18 years or so. Personally, with all the hacking going on lately, I wouldn't want all that info only stored on line. I feel more comfortable having it only on my computer.

Thanks for the help. I have to file both home and business so from what I've read I could buy the box cd and do both my mom's and my families and save money. Good to know.
