I have used turbo tax for 3 years; I went to file this am and was told form 8829 Business use of home was not available till 2/10? What really bugs me is all the other sites have theirs done! It would take me hours to import everything into a new program! :headache:

Is this form one for which you itemize for deductions? If so, Turbo Tax may be keeping it off line until that time because these forms can not be submitted until this date due to the new federal tax laws. The laws were approved later then normal this time and the IRS currently can not accept them until their systems are updated (which was pushed back due to the late approval). Turbo Tax may just have decided it was easier to not offer it yet then explain to everyone why they can't submit it yet...

If it is not an itemized form... then I have no idea.

8829 Business Use of Home ( I'm a daycare provider and can't file without it!)

I am also a daycare provider. Do you use a Schedule A (itemized where you deduct mortgage interest, property taxes, charity...)on your return as well? If so, you will not be able to file until sometime in mid-late Feb because of the delay with the IRS.

Here's a link to an article that explains it better.

Even though others may have it up on thier site, it may not be able to be processed until then regardless. I did my taxes last week on turbo tax, but because I had one of the new "restructured" forms, for me a schedule A (for which I didnt even have any deductions which will have rule changes), it will not even be excepted by the IRS until 2/15. So even though I was able to use the new form online and efile my taxes, I still have to wait a month for the IRS to accept them...:headache:

I've heard similar things from other people. Because of how late they were in passing the final tax bill, the IRS system is unable to process anything until Mid-February.

It stinks for all of us who like to get things done ASAP. I have everything ready to go, but I cannot do anything with it. :headache:

Yep, it does stink. I finished our taxes earlier today, but TurboTax says they will not be processed by the IRS until mid-Feb due to delays. :headache:

It is an IRS thing, not a Turbo Tax thing. The forms are delayed because of last minute changes to the tax laws and the IRS doesn't have their forms integrated with their website yet. We are also waiting for some of the forms. I signed up to get an Email from Turbo tax when they are ready.

I still haven't even received most of the forms I need to do my taxes.

I am still waiting too. I have most of my info entered into Turbo Tax but still waiting for several tax forms I need to finish.

Most folks here are giving the date of Feb 15, 2011, although Turbo Tax said today "Jan. 27, 2011"! That sounds good with me. I have to use Form 8829, but I never need Schedule A for my taxes. We'll see how it turns out.

The forms I need to file won't even be in the mail until January 31, and my tax preparer doesn't even start doing personal returns until February 15 (he does all his farmer clients first because apparently they have an earlier tax deadline).
