Turbo tax, e-filing, and direct deposit -- how long did it take your federal return?

Last year my federal tax refund was direct deposited into my bank account about 2 days after I e-filed. This year I e-filed last Thursday, my state refund got deposited today, and I haven't seen my Federal yet. I know it's early, but just curious about how long it took YOURS to get deposited.

ETA: I just realized I posted almost the exact same thread last year, except that I had e-filed on Saturday and the state refund got deposited Tuesday. I'm guessing that maybe MD does its depositing on Tuesdays?

Took 2 weeks for both for me - has been pretty much the same for the past 5 years since I started doing this.

Why don't you log on and check your status? State's won't give deposit dates buy you can get one for your federal return.

This year it took a few weeks. Normally, we have it within 3-5 days, but there was something going on with the IRS earlier in the year that slowed them down. Check out the forums at Turbo Tax and see what they say. That's how I found out all this was going on.

I didn't know you could do this! I just checked and it said we should have it by April 3.

Thanks!

It took a couple of weeks for mine this year, but I think mainly because they kept saying my DH's AGI didn't match what was on the form last year. It did, and finally on the third attempt everything went through. Must have been some kind of a glitch back in February.

I e-filed our return March 8, and the IRS website says the refund should be deposited by March 27.

Also the closer you get to the deadline the slower it will be, just because the number of returns they recieve grows by the day until the mad rush...

Took about a week for us. Filed on Sunday March, 11th. Got the state refund on Friday, the 16th, and the Federal on Saturday the 17th.

I would guess the opposite... that folks getting refunds would file as early as possible.

You may receive it around 3/30. When I did my taxes, they gave me a deposit date that was on a Tues and when I checked my account that Fri before, the money was there.

One would think but it doesn't happen that way. The season actually hits it's peak at the end of May because the IRS has to pay interest on any money due on a return that was filed on 4/15 or earlier. The largest number of payments are made right around Memorial Day.

Not accurate, but even if it were that would not change the fact that IRS get more total returns closer to the deadline. Refund owed or not, the IRS would still have more returns to process closer to the deadline. More returns to process=longer waiting time for any refund check if you turned in your return during that peak period.
