has anyone ever had any experience with Cozumel Tours by Johann and Sandra? We were looking into the Tolum Ruins tour that they offer. Any experiences, good or bad that you have had would be appreciated. Also, let me know if any of you have booked a tour on your own(not through DCL) to see these ruins with another company and loved them. Thanks! :goodvibes

I did the DCL Tulum Ruins excursion and loved it. Keep in mind that Tulum is about an hour away from where the ferry docks. We had a guide who showed us the ruins and then we had about an hour to look around and go down to the beach behind the ruins. We were given umbrellas, which we really needed, because the sun was really intense.

There are shops before the ruins(it's about a mile walk to the ruins or you pay to take the tractor up) and DCL actually had a shop especially for us where we could use a bathroom that had running water. Watch out for iguanas, they are everywhere.

This is not an excursion I would try to do on my own. My sister tried to visit Tulum using public transportation and almost missed the ship because the bus got a flat. When she got to Tulum, it was closed. She won't do that again.

Book it through the cruise. It's 90 minutes away from the port. If you're running late on the way back fromTulum, the boat won't wait for you if you're with an independent tour group.
