Tulum Ruins-has anyone done them on their own?

Has anyone done the ruins on their own? Is the ferry ride over always rough? Thanks for any help. We're undecided about what to do in Cozumel on the July 5 cruise. Tulum just looks so interesting - any input would be greatly appreciated!

I did Tulum, back in '97 though when I visited Cancun. It was wonderful. Very, very hot though. I visited in July, and the heat and humidity was exhausting.

PS: The views from the cliffs to the beaches down below are breath-taking. the water is the most delicous blue-green I have almost ever seen!

We went to Tulum about 10 yrs ago and it was very interesting to see.

The ferry ride was very rocky and I have heard many tales from others about how rough it was for them.

We are former New Yorkers, used to riding the subways. We were the only ones able to stand up, to see the view and take pictures. If you take any meds for seasickness, be sure to take it before the trip to Tulum.

I suggest doing the ships excursion, not going on your own. If you are on your own and get back late, the ship will leave without you. It will not leave until all the ships shore excursions are back.

sjm_ Thanks for the info on the ruins. We're still undecided. Where in S.I. did you live? We,re in Oakwood. Who knows-maybe we know each other! Where do you live now.

We lived in Arden Heights, in a town house community called Village Greens. It is on Arden Ave and Arthur Kill Road. Righ down the corner from the landfill. Been out of there almost 7 yrs now and am currently in South Jersey, exit 3 of the turnpike.

Where in Oakwood are you?
