Wednesday morning we slept in a little later than usual. The weather was still sunny 75-80. I took a shower and got dressed. We had pop tarts and juice in the tent. Then I decided to do a little laundry. I can't stand to have dirty clothes around.
By 11:00 AM we were at River Country. Thanks to the folks at the Camping Board, I knew to tell the CMs in the ticket booth that we were staying at FW. We got what I figured out to be a 20% discount on regular admission. (It cost $24.70 for 1 adult & 1 child). River Country is so pretty. They have a pool area and a beach area. There are also lots of slides and a lazy river. Every so often Goofy makes an appearance and goes down the water slide. I was so excited to have captured one of his trips down the water slide with my video cam. "DS", I said, "I got Goofy going down the water slide"! DS: "Mom, You know it's just a man in a costume, don't you"? Now I ask you, How could he go and burst my bubble like that?
Also in River Country they have an all white peacock. I had never seen one before! There is also a nature trail. DS and I purchased ice cream cones and took a leisurely stroll. Very nice and peaceful.
We left River Country around 4:00 so we could get ready for our Villian's Dinner at Park Fare in the Grand Floridian.
When we arrived for our character dinner Cruella DuVille & The Queen of Hearts were in the lobby greeting guests. Inside were: Gov Ratcliffe, Captain Hook, & Prince John. They went from table to table signing autographs and posing for pictures. DS started off on the wrong foot with Capt. Hook. He told him he wasn't afraid of him and that his hook was only plastic! That only made Hook want to harass him all the more! Finally DS decided to try to befriend Hook and told him he thought if Hook ever caught Pan, Hook should tar and feather him! Hook gave DS the "hooks up" sign and they were buddies after that!
After our Villian's Dinner we walked over to check out Victoria & Albert's. My oldest DS and his new wife (just married March 31st) were honeymooning at WDW the same time we were there. They had had a special honeymoon dinner at V & A's on Monday. I video taped the outside of the restraunt as a special surprise for them. As I was video taping the sign outside, one of the employees came out and we started talking. I told him what I was doing and he offered to take me back to the room they had been in Monday. I also got video tape of the special dining room they were in!
After Victoria & Albert's, DS found another souvenir store. It was here he got a Beanie Baby of Bell Boy Mickey carrying a Grand Floridian suitcase. I tried to explain to DS that maybe he should look for one with a FW suitcase but he wanted the Grand Floridian one! Oh well, maybe it will make everyone think that that's where we stayed! :D
We headed back to the pier to go back to FW.
When we got back to the tent we grabbed the flashlights and went armadillo hunting. If you're real quiet you can hear them rustling in the leaves. We were lucky and saw 2 of them Wed. night! V-I-C-T-O-R-Y!!! (Boy can those little boogers run when you shine a spot on them! :D )
Goodnight, John Boy. TC

Another great trip report & pix, TC. This is almost as good as meeting y'all - maybe next time.
The last time we went to Park Fare, Mary Poppins, Alice and the Mad Hatter, Minnie and others were there. We'll have to go again for the Villian's.
Isn't the GF beautiful?

Tuffcookie,

I'd like to know how old your son is-he looks like 6 or 7. From the sound of your reports, he sounds well-behaved. We always take family trips but I would love to take my son on a trip by myself. Also, I have always sworn I would never camp at Disney World. Now, I feel like I'm cheating my son out of lot of fun. I know he would be crazy about it-especially Armadillo hunting!!

Poohstyx, The GF is awesome! If I ever hit the lottery... :D
pnelson, My youngest DS is 9. This is going to go down as one of our most happiest memories! I have to emphasize, camping at FW is NOT roughing it! Anyone can do it. There is so much to do in FW itself and then you have the parks, so how can you go wrong?
Day 4 will soon be off the presses. TC :)

The Villain's dinner sounds like so much fun.

How great you were able to make that video for your son and his new wife, I'll bet they were very pleased to get it.

I had fun reading this, thanks for posting.
