Tuesday's Nerd Riddle

I can already tell...this thread is going to the nerd dogs.

The RG gave me FIVE exclamation points.:snooty: I think that means something....notquitesure what, but something.

We are going to Mirkwood?

I'm in for a nerd road trip.

I free associate, so excuse me. However, when I see Mirkwood Forest I think of Sherwood Forest, which makes me think of Errol Flynn saying to Olivia DeHavilland "Welcome to Sherwood, M'lady!" in The Adventures of Robin Hood.

Does that make me a movie nerd?:confused3

Big Time. :3dglasses

I will wear it like a badge of honor.

I do like movies, and I'm sorry you have to be a part of my stream of consciousness today, but did y'all know that Indiana Jones is coming out very soon? I loved those movies.

In fact, one of my ringtones is the theme song to Indiana Jones. (i have lots of ringtones..just sayin') ANYWAY, whenever the commercial comes on I think my phone is ringing and the other day I actually said hello and my kids thought that was pretty funny.

Gosh, I'm in a sharing mood today. Thanks for your indulgence or your pity. whatever works.
For a triple nerdy score...what was Mirkwoods original name?

Uhhhh. LegolasZHotWoods?:confused3

Bwahahaha...:lmao:

Ok random elfy tangent. What do you think Legolas was like as a little elfling? Did he have his own little bow with suction cup arrows? Did they make him play Cupid? Did he frolick naked in mountain streams.

Did he frolic naked as an adult elf? I need answers here people.

no, he did not have suction cup arrows.
Do you see ANY plastic in any of the books or movies?
Geez! :sad2:

Of course he frolicked nekkid!
He still does.
In my head at least.

I liked that you went off on a tagent. I respect that in a nerd. (meant with much nerdy affection of course)

I am going to assume that frolicking occured. I dont know if he frolicked nekkid with the bow and arrow, that might prove dangerous.

Yes frolicking with a bow and arrow could be dangerous. Too bad there aren't any pictures of the frolicking.

And here's Lou's pretend TU.
It's pretend because he said his answer was pretend.
Even though it's right. Never trust a clown lover.

Putting on the Uber Tolkein Geek Hat here...

In the Second Age around the Year 1000 is when Thranduil established his halls in the northern part of the forest. Then it was called Greenwood the Great or Eryn Galen in the Sindarin. Then around the year 1050 of the Third Age the "shadow of Dol Guldur" fell upon the woods. This shadow was the power of Sauron who was now in residence in Dol Guldur and it drove the elves north beyond the Mountains of Mirkwood. But sometime around the time of The Hobbit Gandalf drove Sauron from the woods back to Mordor. And after the War of the Ring with the shadow gone the woods were renamed Eryn Lasgalen or Wood of Greenleaves.

Ok taking off the geek hat...hows about some elf action?

Well, if you really want us to :rolleyes1

DH and DS13 are the D&D nerds in this house. All of my Tolkien know-how comes from them. I have a book case full of D&D books plus Tolkien's works and probably 1000's of D&D figures too.

Actually, as being one who tends to be too sensitive to teasing, I would never tease you if you asked me not too.

You said you were the pretend RG so I sent a pretend answer. I never said it was wrong.

Wow...I am surprised no one has popped up to make fun of my nerdiness.

I'm not even sure what language you're speaking.

Actually, as being one who tends to be too sensitive to teasing, I would never tease you if you asked me not too.

How can you possibly hang around threads with me and still be sensitive? :p
