TTC thread take 2

Okay, now I have to vent to you guys my absolute stupidity.

My old health care coverage covered everything related to infertility (nice), I went to my appointment this morning with my brand new coverage (totally forgot that it had even changed), and I just found out that my new coverage will cover nothing.

We have a huge bill headed to the house from this morning's appointment :sad2:. I can't believe we forgot to check that first. We have the money saved up and can pay it off, but it was being saved for a trip to Disneyland, which is now totally out the window.

So this is it for us. I sure hope it works, I feel so stupid.

Is there anyone in your insurance office you can call? Sometimes they can outline for you what your gynie coverage is and it could have an "office visit" or something in there? So sorry honey. Insurance is such a battle!

I just tried and the lady wasn't helpful, she said I needed to work it out with the obgyn office. I guess I just have to suck it up and write it off as stupidity on my part.

Oh and this wasn't an IUI esbrick- just simple old clomid monitoring! I should go back in and demand an IUI now for the price I'm paying .

See if maybe your OB is willing to have you on clomid without monitoring (if you're comfortable with that of course). I didn't have any monitoring while on clomid until the last cycle because I was already seeing an RE because we thought we were going to have to move on to IUI. Having one monitored cycle lets you know it's working and you didn't have any problems. Clomid itself only cost me $9 from Walmart without using insurance. It sounds like you responded well to the clomid and it may very well be all you need. Sorry about the insurance....was your appt with your OB? Or an RE? I know my RE's office was well versed on how to code things for the optimum insurance payment without commiting fraud. Oh....and fingers crossed this cycle is all you need anyway (I got pg on my first round of clomid after 14 months of TTC in 2003). Sorry about the expense though....it really sucks when you weren't planning on it.

DH and I have been talking a lot lately about TTC #1............I think at this point we're looking at going off BCP by mid to end of summer and just letting nature take its course:goodvibes

I'm not planning on doing Basal temps or ovulation charting for the first few months- maybe even a year......we don't want to add any pressure onto it- just have fun and see where it takes us.

Hopefully I'll be posting more frequently...DH and I are excited, and nervous to take this step but I think we'd be at any time of our lives:)

Good luck! We had plans to just see where it goes, but I'm a huge planner and that lasted all of one cycle. We're on cycle two and I'm all about charting and temping :)

Kronk's girl, my Dr was able to code things so that my follicle scans were covered by insurance. You may want to check with your Dr about that. My actual IUI, clomid, trigger shot, and the SA weren't covered, but she was able to get every follicle scan covered. I had about 3 each cycle we did IUI. 19mm is GREAT! My Dr's magic number was always 20mm. :)

E, you are always SO positive! I know your Dr will figure it all out soon!

Kronks - I am on second round of clomid and I have had no monitoring this month. My RE said that I don't need it - I can have it if I want it. We have chosen not to be monitored this month and if it doesn't work we may get monitored next month. We will see.

Esbrick - I wouldn't want to wait until the Dr. gets back. Best of luck.

I am going to take your guys' advice and try calling the doctor's office to see if there is anyway to work around it, an also ask about doing clomid without monitoring this next time if this month doesn't work. Phew, I am trying not to stress because I am usually not a stressed person- but when it comes to money, I get a little stressed, haha.

So how is everyone else doing? I am still crossing my fingers for you esbrick that they figure something out- and soon! How many days do you have left in the TWW MommaSnowWhite? How about the newbies? Did we scare you off already? ;)

ETA- just talked to the office, we have to pay the bill, oh well. Live and learn right? ;)

Kronks - Did you ask your Dr. about clomid without monitoring?

So I am in the last few days of my TWW - I don't think it worked. DH work trip was timed very poorly. Oh well. Maybe I'm wrong. I will know this weekend. There is always next month!

sorry you have to pay that mess. I can sympathize, I have no infertility coverage. It's SO sad that so many of us have to pay SO MUCH to try to get pregnant.....when there are so many people taking ADVANTAGE of the govt system and taking money when they don't need it (ie. those ones who get knocked up over and over....so easy for them isn't it? Then they get their pregnancies AND childrens' care, food, etc. paid for by the govt)

sorry to get political, it just gets me all riled up!!

I really have low expectations this month so it should be pretty stress free. But, thanks for the support! It is so nice to have a group of women who understand!

The sun actually came out today - that alone will improve anyones outlook! It has been so gray here lately.

hi girl's! hope everyone is hanging in there this month!!! :cheer2: i'm cheering for veryone!

i'm so frustrated. we've been TTC for a few months now but only started taking the ovulation tests twice a day this month. well nothing. no positives. it's driving me crazy. I haven't been tracking my temps but the other symptoms are there. specifically CM.

my doctor told me i had to be trying for a year before going back to her. but really?? why waste a year if i'm not even ovulating. how long did you guys try before you sought out a doctor's help???

The good news is that you are getting into a great habit of monitoring everything.:thumbsup2 The bad news is that unfortunately if your fertility care is covered at all by insurance it is status quo that they wait a year to monitor your progress before assessing for treatments. It is seriously tedious:headache: and can drive you batty:crazy2:. Again, it definately helps that you are monitoring it on your own. You may want to keep a log of monthly dates and times you are testing prior to your cycle, the results of the tests, and when your cycle begins and it's length. My protocol was that tested first pee in the am which usally gives you highest LH reading and first pee when I got home from work to see how the day was going. Again, this was our protocol which worked for us. When you have done this for 6 months give your Dr. another call and tell her/ fax her your results. She may see/hear something that sticks out and changes her mind about when she will see you. It is smart to be proactive when it comes to this stuff so good for you!:thumbsup2

Another month older and another one down the drain. (Literally!) :headache:

I can totally sympathize! This was me in the beginning...

If you haven't been getting positive OPKs (that was one of my issues) then I'd definitely try temping for a few months to see if you see any patterns. So have you had your period? How many days apart are your periods if so?

I can't remember if you said you were on birth control (sorry I seem to have a terrible memory lately)....but for me, I was on BCP for 7 years (low dose the past 2) and my cycles were always about 2 months long for the first 8 months off of the pill. My temperatures were all over the place, but I could still tend to tell when I ovulated. I loved using fertilityfriend and putting in my temps everyday, and waiting for that ovulation line. However it was certainly frustrating waiting because my temps would be up, down, up up, and then just when I thought maybe I had ovulated, they'd come down again. Once I had ovulated, they were still kind of rocky, but a tad higher than the previous temperatures. I would definitely recommend buying a good BBT and charting, I really think it would help.

The good thing is that if you are charting your temps, you have something concrete that you can print and show your doctor. So, lets say, you have long cycles as evidenced by your charts--or you have no significant temperature rise and therefore are having anovulatory cycles (no ovulation), or you have extremely low or rocky temps which could be an indication of cysts, etc. Hopefully you can get some answers soon. I know that when I started TTC, I wanted to be pregnant like...YESTERDAY, so it's safe to say you probably feel the same way!

If you have any questions, I'm an open book! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Morning Ladies,

AJ- Yeah when I had my prenatal appointment with my obgyn I was 26 years old and they told me I couldn't come in until we had been trying for a year (I waited and went in after about 15 months of trying I think). It did take me a while to figure out my cycles. You probably already are, but if you can, just try every other day until you know when you ovulate- just to make sure you don't miss it! If you don't figure it out soon, I would say push for an appointment earlier.

I hope everyone else is doing well. Crossing my fingers for all of you! I haven't gotten a chance to ask my doctor about doing the clomid without monitoring. I asked one of the nurses when I was talking to them about the billing, she didn't know so I said I would call back to talk to the doctor if this round doesn't work.

I had an awful dream last night after watching that special called My Monkey Baby on TLC. I dreamt that I got a baby monkey and pretended that she was my child and I threw a lady bug themed birthday party and people didn't want to come because they thought I was crazy  (which the people on that show unfortunately are crazy). Even worse, I kept losing the baby monkey, so I wasn't even a good monkey mom in my dream, haha.

Okay, sorry for such a long post. Sending baby dust to everyone!

oh yeah btw...I can't remember if I mentioned this but I am another YEAR closer to 30!!

I turned 28 Monday. I've got 2 years to reach my goal! Of course that means I have about 14 months to get pregnant......

BUT he11, I hope it doesn't take THAT long! :guilty:
