TTC thread take 2

I told my husband I'm really sad that I'm at that point, I guess offically "infertile" and needing treatment, yet happy to have the opportunity to make a plan and get some help in moving forward! The more time that goes on, the more I think I'm leaning towards happy! :yay:

I can completely relate to what you are saying. After 'trying' for so long and getting nowhere, it's great to have some clarity and an actual plan. While the infertility diagnosis is scary, it helps get the ball rolling. Hoping your individual plan works quickly!

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. I have been extremely sick since returning from Disneyland and Oprah's Oscar Party show.

Sorry to hear you were sick! I think airplane travel is just horrible for sickness. It seems that whenever I fly, I end up sick. Glad to hear the Oscar Party show was fun. I thought of you when watching it. It looked very cool!

Can I just say I have the BEST neurologist ever?:woohoo:

My neuro is going to put me on Lyrica during my AF and stressful times to help with seizures....it did a world of good! They stopped!!!!:banana:

More good news....the cost....0. He's giving me samples so I don't have to pay for them. They cost $300! :scared1::scared1:

He said if, not when I see that pink line, to call him and discontinue Lyrica immediately. He's as excited about this ttc thing as me and Kenny are I think! lol. I've been his patient forever and he can't wait to put up our kids baby pics.

Sounds like you got some positive news and the medication is really helping. Very exciting!

I've had an interesting day or so. Last night, I went in for my second acupuncture appointment. I've been fighting a bad cold for about a week and a half and am still pretty congested. The acupuncturist said that the session would help with that congestion (I was skeptical to say the least). Well, she put 4 on the sides of my nose and by the end of the session, all of the congestion was gone! This morning, I woke up with a small amount of congestion, but it was much better than before. Each day seems to get better as part of the regular healing process, but going into my session completely congested and coming out less than an hour later clear definitely shocked me!

Today, DH and I went to the RE office for our IVF 'teaching' session. We went over the drug protocal and injection procedures. One good thing is that all of my injections with the exception of the HCG shot are subcutaneous, so I can do those myself and DH will only have to inject the HCG one. The thought of him having to do all of them really freaked me out. Plus, I trust myself with the shots after doing a few of them with our Clomid/IUI cycles. We received a lot of information, but it wasn't overwhelming. I'll start with Lupron on March 22nd and will then go in for bloodwork and an ultrasound on March 31st. Depending on how things look then, I'll probably start on Menopur and Follistim after that. We are targeting mid-April for the retrieval.

One interesting thing is that the RE's office recommended that I take one baby Aspirin a day from now on. This helps create a good environment for implantation and the dosage is so low that it won't interfere with any of the meds. I thought that was pretty interesting.

One other thing we talked about was the 3 day versus 5 day embryo transfer. Typically, they do 3 day and recent data out of the CDC shows that there is not a significant difference between 3 and 5. She feel that the best environment for an embryo to develop is inside the womb versus the lab. The one caveat is that if people are very fearful of multiples, she will do a 5 day transfer with only one embryo. I'm going to research this a bit more.....

Hope everyone is having a great day! :goodvibes

Alright ladies, TMI but I'm driving myself crazy trying to figure out what's going on. I've had cramps on my lower right side for the last 4 days. I'm still 2 weeks away from getting my period. Every ovulation test I take has been negative. I took a pregnancy test this morning - also negative. What could be going on? Should I call my OB? Am I freaking out about nothing?

Do you know if you normally ovulate from your right side? I normally only ovulate on the right side as my left side was compromised with endometriosis. My doctor said that I would eventually ovulate on my left, but my body preferentially will rely on the right side. Anyway....during my third Clomid cycle, I did ovulate from my left as well as my right. I remember feeling quite a bit of cramping on my left side that month and when I went in for my ultrasound, I told the technician and she confirmed the cramping was part of the left side ovulating.

The zombie tooth is no more. :) It took 5 minutes! I'm sore as heck, but happy it's over!!!! My dentist is a Disneyphile too! Loves everything Disney!!!!!

Charged us $85. Awesome!!!!

I'm not sure what side I ovulate from. I'm on my 3rd cycle of clomid also. I did have some cramping last cycle (I don't remember which side though) but it didn't last this long. Hmmm... maybe I'll just see how it goes...

I guess the only real way to know is through ultrasounds. The other thing to watch for is hyperstimulation of the ovaries. I believe the symptoms for that are much more severe than cramping though. Hope it subsides!

Cheri - How was the weight gain with your previous IVF cycle? Just curious how extreme it got.....

well to be honest I really can't blame it all on the IVF...I've gained 15 pounds though. I dunno how much I can pinpoint to the meds. A lot of it was the depressed eating after it failed :guilty:

that sounds awesome!! I go for my first acu session next Thursday. :thumbsup2

I took baby aspirin through my whole IVF cycle last time and will take it again. Most doctors do recommend it. (it certainly can't hurt)

It could be extended ovulation pain, or a cyst. Maybe an ultrasound is in order.

Very cool about the accupuncture. :yay: I didn't really believe in it at all, but while pregnant with DD my blood pressure was rising and I was not able to be induced (I was a VBAC), so I allowed my Chiropractor to do an "accupuncture induction" on me, out of desperation. I'll be darned if I didn't go into labor about 8 hours later! It doesn't seem like it should do anything, yet somehow it works???

I'm thinking it could be ovulation pain. I typically can get days of ovulation pain, often before and then still after a positive OPK. The one month I tried Vitex I had what I would call "ovulation pain" for over a week. You might still want to let your OB know, though, if you are on Clomid!

I know what you mean about depressed eating. Definitely been there, done that! Some people simply have no appetite when they are depressed/stressed, I'm the exact opposite!

Good luck with your first acupuncture appointment. I'm enjoying it so far. Also, good to know that other REs recommend baby aspirin. This was the first time I had heard of it.

Wow! Very cool! It's a total mystery to me, but if results seem to come out of it and there is no harm, I figure it's worth a shot!

just sitting here waiting for the RE's office to call back with my beta results. I broke down and tested this morning and it was a BFN so just waiting for them to confirm the negative

well like I thought it's a BFN and I am out next month since DH is going to China for 2 weeks during the time I would be ovulating so no baby for us in 2011. :sad1:

At least I can now take something super strong for this cold and hopefully get rid of it

why this disappointment after disappointment. Ugh

We are officially booked at the Alpine Inn June 9-12! It's been re-done and looks really cute! Soooo psyched! We are planning to do D-land park/DCA/SW or the SD Zoo and also visit Gardenwalk.

So glad this tooth thing is over! Ken and I are going to Wolfgang Puck Thursday to celebrate St. Patty's Day! ;)

Going to get our taxes done next week. We always do pretty good there.

Then, it's on to the RE and to see what she says.

Thanks for all the comments your support means a lot to me. AF arrived Sunday with a vengeance with awful stomach cramps but she should be gone by tomorrow. I am kinda of looking forward to taking a month off with no clomid or injectibles and esp no progesterone, definitely won't be missing the side effects. I am going to start back up my exercise routine today and hopefully lose 10 lbs before my next RE appt next month when AF returns.
