To all of our Diser's living on the islands, be safe. Hope everyone gets to higher ground .

My sister in law lives in Honolulu. She is ready to go to high ground. The phone lines are jammed. We are praying for all these people. Horrible!:sad1:

I got a text to one of our best couple friends. He is military and leaving and she is moving the kids to higher ground.

Try to text your SIL if she has a cell phone.

Well, they appear to have lots of warning, so hopefully it will only amount to material losses. That's certainly not good news, but it's better than life.

Here is a site that's going to be running live. Here is their estimate:
Wave arrival estimates:
11:05 a.m. Hilo, 11:20 a.m. Maui, 11:35 a.m. Oahu, 11:50 a.m. Kauai, 9-12 ft. surge estimates.

BTW, there is a difference of 5 hours between eastern time and Hawaiian time.

One of my friends parents and daughter live on Oahu and she said her DD just texted her.

One of our friends lives in Hilo, just a couple of blocks from the beach. They just texted and said they are moving to higher ground. They commented on how loud the sirens were :goodvibes

Keep safe all!

Please explain...the military is making him leave the island but his family has to stay behind? If so, I bet he is dying on the inside from worry! Hard thing to do!!!!

I'm not sure where they are going because the conversation was by text message. I'm guessing they will go to a military center set up for the family.
Her husband is mission essential because of his knowledge for communications..think sattelite and internet..and I'm not sure how that is working.

My husband is also on a mission essential team here in D.C. and would go underground should something happen. I was like geee going to leave the women and children behind to fight huh;)

My best friend has a lot of family on Maui, so I'm wishing them a lot of luck! She's at work right now, so I've got to stick by all the news channels to make sure everything goes well!

We were woke up by the sirens this morning.

Yes, often the active duty member leaves...all the ships at Pearl Harbor were put out to sea this morning, leaving all the spouses and children by themselves. Luckily we are a strong group of people LOL.

That must be so hard! Please know, that when we honor our heroes, we honor their families as well, I know firsthand how our men and women who serve need the support of their families behind them. Thank you!:hug::hug:

Aww thank you!! It really does mean a lot to us!

I personally am lucky, DH just left his ship a week ago, so he's home. :) We totally lucked out!
