TSMM to start digital FP in November?

Mmm not sure if this is great, as no wifi and even with my own data plan, sometime have hard time using Internet in parks, prob not enough cell towers in area to support # of people tring to use.

I used SR several times when the ride first opened when it was offered. I only see FP working for that ride if they redo the queue to make the return somewhere on the other side of Mr. Potato Head. Otherwise there's just nowhere for the returners to wait.

I will be missing this 1st time changing over of Fast Pass by 2 weeks - will be in the parks November 2nd!!! Can't wait to hear all the feedback from the new process! So happy they are at least trying something different!!

When we were in the park last week a cast member put 2 fast passes for our group on my app. When it came time to use them, I handed over my phone and it was scanned by the cast member working the ride. It was different, but lots easier than keep track of the paper passes.

I don't know. I a big fan of tech and used the DL app religiously when we visited this summer but kind of like not having to plan ahead for FPs is this system is going to be like the system at WDW.

I want to be all in on this but until Disneyland can show the system won't be abused with tons of "just in case" bookings I'm gonna remain cautious...
Do we know that reservations will be able to be made from outside the park? That's a pretty critical piece I believe.

I'm going to remain skeptical until I see if Disney's IT systems can handle all those hits at once.

I know they can add a fastpass ticket to a park ticket. maybe they will do that instead?

No we don't know any of the how reservations will be made yet. Hopefully they'll just launch TSMM and get any kinks worked out using just one ride.

 Oh lovely. I don't HAVE a smart phone, and I don't let my teen use his on vacation, but I guess I'll be forced to change. At least with his phone I will be better off than the poor international guests who didn't sign up for international data, unless the wifi magically gets better. This article does not mention prebooking, but why start this with no in-park kiosks available? I had the pleasure of going to MK when they were testing the new FP+ with a strict three per day limit (NOT enough for MK), tons of technical glitches (our FP kept disappearing and reappearing), and no paper FP, so I expect I will be at DL at the worst possible time too. I was looking forward to the old-fashioned FP system. At least now my DS has an official diagnosis and I no longer feel guilty about getting a DAS. And, most of the rides he can go on don't have FP at DL anyway, although it sounds like that's changing! I just don't want to be a guinea pig again, and I don't want anyone else to be either. It would be nice if they'd just lay their cards on the table and let people know exactly how this is going to roll out and what it's going to look like.

It seems like, at least at first, this is just for TSMM? Interesting. We are going the end of November.

I, for one, am very happy that this is not occurring until after my trip. I hate the new system at WDW, it greatly reduced the number of fastpasses to use in a day and for many of the parks, makes fastpasses almost zero benefit.

Right there with you on it! It launches the day we leave and we only plan on being in DCA for the early entry hour (before heading over to DL) so won't even need to try it out ourselves.

  1. Potential problems.

    Not everyone has a SmartPhone.

Not all SmartPhones will connect to a 4G type of Network, especially Foreign Tourists.

Unlike WDW, Disneyland and DCA do not offer free WiFi to guests inside the parks.

If Disney did opt for free WiFi, with all the locals, how much access points do they need??? I presume the system would be overloaded quite a bit.

And then when the full system is up and running, I do see the Three Disney owned Hotels get special perks, such as long times in reserving in advance, and maybe more FP to be held at one time.

Do they offer a perk to those tourist buying a three day or longer parkhopper like they currently do with Magic Mornings?

Do you offer a perk to purchasers of more expensive AP's, or make an add-on available for purchase for an enhanced FP experience?

This will be interesting to see, but I doubt they will get it right the first time.

I went to DLR for the first time in 2013 and since that trip has have 5 WDW trips with FP+.
I'll be back at DLR in June and I'm really hoping for something similar to FP+ to be up and running by then!
Legacy Fastpass is a bit outdated now that I've gotten used to FP+.
