Has anyone heard of a scheduled Toy Story Mania refurb to include Toy Story 3?

I haven't heard of this but i seriously doubt it.. The ride opened less then 2 years ago and ts3 has been at least in the planning stage for 3 years... why build a ride then have it revamped so soon after:confused3

From what i've heard, and seen around here, there will be new TS3 themed stuff on the 18th, the same day the movie opens.

It's a video game! they can change the games just as you switch Disk on a PS3 or Wii! There s nothing to it really.
I heard they also have halloween themed games ready too, they just have to decide when they want to use them.

its both a video game and a ride... we are talking about the ride

I have never been on the ride but from videos I've seen I can see what TLPL means. It is basically a video game with the controller being the actually moving vehicle itself. They can easily change and create new scenes and games on the screens. It's actually pretty smart of Disney to make a ride like that in which they can make totally new within a matter of weeks or months.

I'm guessing for the supposed refurb they will need to adjust the targeting system for the ride itself and test it. Also maybe a few scenery changes off screen.

Maybe the refurb will be for some minor re-theming and adding of characters in the various areas of the building (in the queue and/ or in the ride itself) where there is some white space. Who knows...it does seem silly that it would need a refurb, but perhaps it's only for a repaint or something...who knows...

Maybe they'll use the rehab to fix it so it works without breaking down every few minutes. When we were there last month it stopped 3 times during our ride....:sad2:

A lot of times when a ride stops for just a few minutes, it is because they have to significantly slow down or halt the load or unload process because of someone with a mobility impairment, not because of something going kablooey. When something goes wrong, it is down for much more than a minute or two.

Mouseplanet got the news, Bo Peep's section will change to a new game features Rex and Trixie.

Changes coming to the Studios this summer
We've received word that the Tower of Terror is not the only attraction at Disney's Hollywood Studios that will be receiving enhancements this summer. When the Rock 'n' Roller Coaster closes from May 15 to 20, it will be getting a more interactive queue. Rumors regarding the removal of the Aerosmith theming are running rampant, but we've no confirmation of that at this time. We don't have all the details of what's involved in the queue change yet, but it's possible that the "queue-less line" that was tested earlier as a pilot for the "double Dumbo" queue may return.

The big news, though, is that for the first time Imagineering is going to take advantage of the ability to swap out computer programs and change one of the midway games at Toy Story Midway Mania. We're hearing that—in conjunction with the upcoming Toy Story 3 (coming to theaters on June 18)—the balloon pop game will be changed from Bo Peep and her sheep to Rex and Trixie (the triceratops from the new movie), and will feature a jungle/volcano theme. There is reportedly also some additional scoring information that will be presented to you at the conclusion of the game.

Because the changes to Toy Story Midway Mania only involve changing out computer programs, it is expected that the modifications will be made overnight, and the attraction will simply close one day with the old game and reopen the next day with the new game. That will be very impressive, and will likely indicate that Imagineering will similarly be able to implement seasonal overlays for the attraction overnight.

It's not certain whether those changes will appear at the version of Toy Story Midway Mania at Disney's California Adventure, but it would be a reasonable assumption.

Just a couple thoughts. I did notice that the line maze needed some repainting while I was there in February. I was thinking to myself that it seemed to have some surfaces that wear too easy seeing how it was indoors and the newest thing in DHS.

Also regarding the slow downs while on the ride. TSMM in DHS has an outer loop in the loading area. The mobily impaired guest load on this short alternate siding. You may recall that the main cue has a bunch of stairs in it. I tried to see how the track switches but on my few times through never paid attention when it happens. I felt like there was sensors being tripped, stopping the vehicles ,that needed to be overidden.
