TSM--AM EMH or FP?

Will be in the world end of October and I normally avoid EMH. But the AM EMH for HS are on our first day there, Sat Oct 23, and I am considering doing EMH mainly just for TSM. My son loves this ride! I know he'll want to ride it 2x and we are early risers. So, do I go on a normal day and just do FP, or go on AM EMH, which would probably still involve FP. I am looking for less crowds and less wait time. Any thoughts?

Go for AM EMH. Be there at RD, get FP and ride TSM standby immediately after you get your FP. As soon as your FP window opens to get another one (check your FP it may not be the standard 2 hours and if you are one of the first in line it won't be that long), get another FP. Then you could get 3 rides in one day with little to no wait. If you are lucky and don't care to wait 20-30minutes you should be able to repeat standby TSM during AM EMH right after your first trip thru with a wait under 30 minutes.

I agree about being at Hollywood Studios when they open for AM Extra Magic Hour, getting your Fast Passes and then going in the standby line, because it's a very good chance that within 1 - 2 hours all the Fast Passes for that day will be gone.

I always have better luck riding it first - walking right on literally - then getting the Fast pass. Seems like a large mob races to the FB booths first instead of getting on line. I've never waited more than 10 minutes after riding to get a FP - yet the standby line can be up to 40 minutes by then already.

We'll see you there! The 23rd is our family's 1st day at the parks also , and we are doing the DS EMH, touring until our 11 am reservation at Sci Fi, and then getting the heck out of Dodge! I bought the PHs this year especially so that we could do the am EMHs and then hop right after early lunches to a different park. Have a great trip!

We always use the following plan and you're welcome to copy it - players are DD, myself and DH

DH rushes ahead for FP for TSM

Plan A is he gets done and gets in line with us if we haven't gotten into the roped area (aka once we enter that I consider it to be line cutting and he won't do that)

Plan B he's not quick enough and he goes through the line himself while DD and I go through it before him

Plan C he waits for us to get done riding (doesn't ride the first round).

We've always had Plan A work out so far but it's good to have alternatives. By doing EMH and getting a FP first thing we can generally get in 3 rides. The first one, plus 2 FP rides. I do recommend you get the 2nd FP as soon as the first one's time comes up.

I suggest riding first if you are truly at the front of the mob at rope drop, otherwise FP and don't even bother with the standby. Another excellant time to ride is right before closing on a non-Fantasmic night. I was able to ride twice in half an hour those nights.

Agree. This is the way to maximize your rides on TSM.

But if you're sure that 2 rides will be enough, then you will minimize your time standing in line by riding first, and then getting Fast Passes afterward.

I also was gonna try to run ahead and get fastpasses and then go to the stand by line with my group as soon as I get the fast passes.

If we ride first, and then get fast passes, how long do you think it will be until we can use the fast passes.(will it be within the hour????)

DHS is my least favorite park and I really only want to do TSM.

Highly unlikely.

If you get Fast Passes after riding, I would guess a return time of about noon (on a non-EMH day).

If you get Fast Passes before riding, I would guess a return time of about 10:15-10:30.

Oh wow. This is my first day in the parks and I'm going to HS for the morning EMH. Headed to TSM first thing! I'm going without the family the first few days of this trip so I'll be sprinting solo. Look for my lime green Mickey on my backpack.
