Sunday night...6:30p..Rose and Crown..EPCOT.

Welcome to DRINK AROUND THE WORLD!!! Yes folks, our band of merry DISers will be starting at the UK and working our way around, stopping for drinks at each and every country (or so) and seeing how many of us can drink 1 alcoholic beverage in each country and remain standing at the conclusion of the evening. Please note..there are 11 countries in World Showcase so we are talking, in theory, 11 drinks that night. Grab your headache medicine, your ice pack, and your can coolie because HERE WE GO!!!!

We started with a large group of..almost everybody. We got our drinks at Rose and Crown, talked for a little while, and then headed over to France. SSB's DW let me much on some fish and chips, which was a nice gesture. :) Everyone was in great spirits. I wondered a bit when George (disfanatiks SO) ordered a Guinness right away..too early for dark beers, IMHO. I order a Bass Ale to start the night with. :)

So we make our way to France and re-group (this will prove to be a challenge later). Told everyone the only place for beer is in the France pastry shop. Champagne was available but that would not be a wise mix. Nancy runs off to get a pastry and some milk (she loves that pastry shop). Everyone else watches the living statue. Pandy, TvT, and I go off for a smoke break. Warning..the more I drink, the more I smoke.

Next stop...Morocco!! Nancy figures the counter-service place is somewhere deep inside Morocco..I know that it's just on the outside. The group goes with her, I go alone. Who is correct? Oh yeah, it's me!! :) Casablanca is the beer of choice and it tastes similar to Heineken. Drinks are had by all and me being the wonderful leader I think I am, herds everyone over to....

JAPAN!! We hit the counter service restaurant where Nancy gets the meal she missed out on Saturday..I forget what it was, but it looked weird. I go for Kirin beer, Glo gets plum wine. Why plum wine, I have no idea, but I heard it was nasty. Plum wine to me sounds nasty, but hey, different strokes. I'm working on a partially empty stomach right now so the beer is starting to take a little bit of an effect on me. :) The group somehow manages to get down the stairs/ramp from Japan and heads to:

THE AMERICAN ADVENTURE! Budweiser or Samuel Adams...god bless America!! TLK buys this round for me, himself, SSB, and Glo. I see the woman who I talked with Saturday working in the restuarant. I don't remember her name, and I doubt she would remember me. She is from Washington (state) down here on the college program. Turns out I would meet several other ladies who are here for the same reason. As everyone gathers around a table to drink, I stumble off to have a cigarette. I watched part of Tapestry of Nations, but I'll be darned if I can remember what I saw! Pandy and TvT split from us to see Blast! And I think Ejigs and family split at this point. TownCrier and his family probably left around the same time, too, I do not remember. Heck..I am not remembering much at this point. :)

Hey...my cup is getting low..time to move on to GERMANY!! SSB buys this round. I can't remember what the beer of choice was here, but it was good..we had our choice of a regular or a grande size....I think it's better to pace ourselves so I go with the smaller size. Right about now I am getting a REALLY good buzz. We kind of rush through this country and head over to...

CHINA!! Here the group stops to talk and finish their drink. Teri and George split to get beer from China. Someone snaps a picture of me, SSB, and TLK outside of China. I tip my glass upside down to show that it's empty, where my counterparts glasses still have a beverage inside of it. I talked with Teri and George and when I realized they have Chinese beer in their glass, I realized it time for me to fill 'er up! I hit the bathroom and the counter service and rejoin the group.

Somehow we skipped Norway. Why, I don't know. Anyway, it's off to:

MEXICO!!! I missed the "burrito" event, but from what I read, it's a riot!! I realize that I should eat something NOW, so I hop in line. Beer of choice here is Dos Equis. Yes!!! My favorite Mexican beer. Oh happy day!! I go for a LARGE Dos Equis and a mexican food plate. I don't remember at all what it was, but I scarfed it down pretty quickly. I lose the group here and end up holding onto a lightpole for dear life (and stability). Nancy finds me and offers her support..no Nancy..don't need the vomit bucket yet, but thanks for the offer. TLK finds me too. After Illuminations, well, I just saw the fireworks basically. TLK and I head into Mexico to use the bathroom, laughing the whole way. We SOMEHOW get through the crowds and end up in...

CANADA! But it's closed. ARGH!!!! :( :( :( No Molson for us. We whimper back to the Inernational Gateway where we are met by the rest of the group. We stumble over to Boardwalk where someone gets this brilliant idea to stop into the ESPN club. Next thing I know I am handed a Coors light and continue my drinking. I talked to MarlaH on the phone but it was so loud and I really didn't know what to say to her so I did some small talk and passed the phone back to Glo. Next thing I know, someone else is handing me a beer! Oh boy, this could be trouble. Teri (disfanatiks) + George, mickeyfaniam + DH stop by our table to say they are headed back to their rooms. I think now would be a great time to depart so I follow them back to the Dolphin. We laughed and stumbled our way to the lobby and said our good evenings for the night. I get back to my room to inhale some Doritos when the phone rings. It's PandyPaws and TvT down in the lobby and they wanted to know if I would come down and hang out with them. Ohhhhhkay..I grab my smokes and fill my Wilderness Lodge mug up with soda and ice and I head down to the lobby where we sat and talked for what felt like an hour.

NancyIL finds us and we talk for a little bit. Pandy and TvT head back to their rooms and I grab Nancy to head down to Tubbi's for some real food. Down there we run into BT who is hanging out at the pool and doing laundry. I grab a smoked turkey sandwich, say my goodbye for the evening to Nancy and head back to my room. That turkey sandwich never tasted soo good! I knock on Pandy's door (she's across the hall) and ask for some excedrin migraine. She gives me 4..2 for tonight..2 for tomorrow. I inhale my sandwich, drink about a gallon of water, and take 2 excedrin and get to sleep rather quickly. I wake up the next morning feeling fine! No headache, and no sickening feeling. Yes...I survived Drink Around the World! Woohoo!!!!!

It's a good thing because we have the farewell breakfast in the morning at Tubbi's and Animal Kingdom! (read that in the next report)
(yes, this was edited cause I forgot where I was going that morning)

***CORRECTION*** I sat down in Morocco to drink my milk/eat my chocolate hazelnut mousse! The group did NOT follow me into the inner sanctum of Morocco - looking for beer!

Towncrier was with us until the end of DATW.

The MK character breakfast was on Sunday morning - BEFORE the DATW. We had a FAREWELL BREAKFAST at Tubbi's the following morning at 8 a.m.

TSI ROCKS... you HAVE to be a part of November idea with SSB!!!!

:D :D :D

GREAT narrative!!!

Next time I'll have to hang for the entire trip around the world!

By the way James, when you call a lady during the late evening hours and whisper sweet nothings in her ears forever! - it isn't polite to mention afterwards that you can't remember what you talked about!

Thanks for posting

WHAT? No photographic evidence? I would've loved to point and laugh at you guys during the Barf Around the World event, but we were too busy inciting a chipmunk riot at LTT.

Next time...

I thought it was called Drink Around the World, not Beer Around the World! You could've had wine in France and Italy - rather than skipping those countries entirely. I'm not sure why Norway was skipped, but it took a VERY long time for the beer buyers to get their drinks in Mexico. Perhaps the next DATW should begin in Canada.

James - I'm surprised you could remember anything about that night! Great job of remembering most of the details. :)

Rule #1: Do not mix beer, wine, champagne, and/or liquor. Then it would be a barf around the world!! I wasted NO time getting my drink in Mexico...Dos Equis is my favorite!! :) See? That shows that I was intoxicated but still coherent about what was going on around me. :)

Wow, how did you manage to wake up w/out any effects?? How did you make it back to your room? ;)

Hey - what do I know about mixing beer/wine/liquor - I don't touch the stuff! ;) OK - James got his beer right away in Mexico. Guess we were waiting and waiting and waiting for SSB!

james...rock on dude...very good recall on the events for the most part..regret missing canada but still a success all around...beer at the 'cot' followed by a chaser at the 'club'..woo hoo!!!

I'm gonna do it next time if I have to drag myself out of bed!
Sick or not!

Looks like I missed a grreat time!:(

We just maintained a low profile. I must admit skipping countries from America up until we got to Mexico. But I made up for my lack of participation with a LARGE margarita. We did however bail out when we got to the ESPN club.

Um..I don't recall whispering sweet nothings into anyone's ear..in person or via phone. Yikes...was I *that* drunk? What did I say? Was it anything good? ;) ;) ;) ;)

It was too loud at ESPN for me to overhear your phone conversation with Marla. But she IS a single gal!
