My wife and I have TSA precheck. I realize it is not a given, but does anyone have any experience making a reservation with your known travel ID number and with someone that doesn't have one? Can you still get tsa precheck on the boarding pass and the other person wouldn't, or since they are on the reservation, no one gets precheck?

I would assume it's not by reservation number but by individual. Guessing that the precheck yes/no is assigned by the TSA and not the airline.

In the past, when they still did so, I got precheck (without having applied) and my wife did not. We're both applying it in a couple of weeks.

I have TSA Precheck. When I flew to WDW with my dd, her boarding pass did not allow for precheck. Mine did...obviously. I chose to go through regular security, with her vs using the faster precheck line. We were on the same reservation.

TSA Precheck is for individuals. There would be obvious security ramifications if it was applied to everyone who happened to be on the Precheck holder's reservation.

I have a Nexus (Trusted Traveler) Card and my wife does not.
When we fly together I always get TSA Pre-check but my wife seldom gets it.
We usually just go through the regular line together.

My family has Nexus, but my mom doesn't. When the 5 of us flew out of Buffalo recently on JetBlue, all 5 of us had precheck. It was a single reservation. We've only flown with her once, so I don't know if it is a typical outcome.

I have TSA pre and my (over 18) daughters do not, even when we are on the same reservation I am the only one who gets pre check. Before my youngest turned 18 she would get TSA pre when on my reservation.

Yes, minors on your reservation will get precheck with the precheck holder. My daughter gets it every time I do. Other adults on the reservation will not automatically be granted precheck.

This has not been my experience. Officially, children 12 and under are allowed to go through the Precheck line with you, but my daughter never had Precheck listed on her boarding pass.

I think it depends on the airline too. We traveled with the 3 granddaughters last summer. My husband and I both have our KTN. When printing boarding passes with SW only us 2 had it printed on our BP, but I knew the girls could go through with us as they are all under 13. Each gave the TSA agent their USG picture ID and boarding passes and went through with us. Coming home we flew Jetblue. Got our boarding passes via RAC at BLT and all 5 of us had it printed on our boarding passes. That is the first time that happened. The granddaughters always hang with us when traveling and mom and dad go through the regular TSA line. We've had our KTN for a year now and it's the best $$ we've spent. We came home 2 weeks ago and flew home on a Thursday. The security line was huge. Heck even the precheck line was huge. The news recently reported it's getting worse because so many folks are doing carryon because of the luggage fees.

Interesting! Mine has had it printed on her pass every time.
Ironically, My daughter just turned 13, and I just submitted her Global Entry application. I went through the regular security line with her this morning, only to discover that she had pre-check on her boarding pass. And I received her conditional approval notice (i.e. time to schedule an interview) when we landed. Sometimes it's so random that it doesn't seem random.

After I applied for and got TSA Pre and my KTN my younger dd got Pre check (printed on her BP) when flying with me when she was under 18 (but over 12!) every single time. About 20 times r/t on AA, SWA and JB among others.

My older DD never got pre check on her bp even when on our confirmation I am assuming because she was over18 and since my younger dd turned 18 neither does she!

So in answer to the OP I don't think one person on the reservation having a KTN increases the chances of the other passengers getting Pre Check.

No one in my family has paid for TSA pre-check though my husband did a program like it for around 4 months as he was traveling a lot (would have been july 2015-november 2015) and his company paid for it.

That being said last time we all flew together (may 2015) my husband, myself and my sister-in-law were on one reservation and my mother-in-law and stepfather-in-law were on another. In-laws including sister-in-law were selected for Pre-check despite being on different reservations.

Stepfather-in-law is retired navy and sister-in-law did a summer intership with NASA..at least to our understanding (which may be totally wrong) the 3 members of the family who got pre-check had been verified through the government already (retired military and working for NASA).

I always am TSA approved (For the last 10 trips to Orlando). Never paid for. Never inquired about. I haven't the slightest idea how/why I have it (but, of course, love it). When my husband travels with me, he seems to have it about 1/3 of the time. No idea why or why not.

I'm curious as to why I have it. I always fly American though I'm sure that makes no difference.

To piggie back that in my above post I mentioned step-father-in-law being retired military..well every time he flies which is maybe once a year but sometimes every 2 or so years he is pre-check approved along with his spouse, my mother-in-law..they've never paid for it. That's kinda what we thought that because he is military and because sister-in-law did internship through NASA, which requires a strict background check, is the reason they got pre-check and we didn't.

My daughter did not get pre check on hers but because she was 11 she was able to go through with me.

Mine just turned 12 so we'll see what happens next week. Up until now, it's always been printed on her pass.
