Hello all,

We are 1st time cruisers and will be on the Magic this October. We are staying at the Airport Hyatt each night before and after the cruise. We plan on using our TSA locks for our luggage from Milwaukee to Orlando. My question is... Since we are staying at the Hyatt and will have access to our luggage, do we have to remove our TSA locks for Disney? Does Disney have keys to TSA locks? Does Disney want to inspect our luggage too? I'm a little nervous leaving my luggage with plastic ties on them outside the hallway at the Hyatt. Geeez, anyone could do something stupid to it and lock it back up with their own plastic ties.

Maybe I should be calling the Hyatt with these questions. Just wondering.

TIA.

Except when flying, I always keep my luggage locked with the built in locks.
Never used the TSA locks.
We arrived the day before, and locked our bags when we left the hotel the morning of the cruise....didn't seem to be a problem. I do understand Disney xrays luggage, but I don't think they physically open it.

Bottom line, don't put anything valuable in your luggage, keep it all in your carryon. All luggage is easy to open even if locked, and the trend towards softsided luggage only makes it easier to break in.

we used our tsa locks in Feb. we always fly with them. we did not use DCL transport . we took a limo. when we got to the port the people that took our bags did not ask us to take them off they were fine. They arrived at our room in tact and with no problems

hope this helps

I also have used the TSA locks with no problems at either the airport or the port. Both times the luggage arrived safely with the locks still on.

 I have them for all our bags too --- even was complemented on having the locks by a TSA guard the first time I used them at JFK.

Picked them up at E-Bags -- lime green color of course

Thanks tons for clarifying the lock situation. :flower:

cntkg1: In answer to your question yes Disney has the key. I had the TSA approved locks and they opend mine and the lock was not broken.

mommommouse: the TSA locks can be purchased at the below web site. That is were I got mine.

def. use these, made the mistake of using a couple (all i could find at the time) and a couple of regular on our 8/04 trip, although airline staff had us stand by and delcined to have us open our luggage after it went through screening-we arrived at our hotel to find the standard locks drilled through (luckily the hotel had bolt cutter and cut the locks off for us). our rule of thumb is:if it's valuable take it as carry on, if it's valuable and won't fit in your carry on luggage (from home or bought on vacation) mail it (the resorts are very good about holding items mailed from home).

I recommend the TSA locks that have the indicator (green or red) so you will know that the bag was opened. Sure your bags will be locked with any TSA lock, but the ones with the indicator let me know IMMEDIATELY when I get my bags that they have been opened. I can quickly check to make sure the contents are still ok and that the notice from TSA is in the bag.

If there is a problem then you will know before you leave the airport. I'm still missing a shoe from over 2 years ago after a cruise I took. It was a very nice, expensive shoe, but since I still have 2 feet, the other shoe doesn't do much good!
