TSA Locks Seriously

I ordered mine off ebay, ordered enough for the two cases we take out and then four more for the extra four we fetch back lol

you know me Im a shopper

I'd never heard or seem this type of lock before so I've been doing a little looking around the internet at them, glad to know about them as last time when we were flying out of MCO we were advised about the security of cases in the USA, we had standard dial pad locks on our bags but fortunatly the cases were not harmed in any way (unlike some peoples when we arrived at MAN). I will make a point in purchasing this type of lock and will also be advising the rest of the family to do the same. :rolleyes2

I was wandering if anyone could advise if there is a particular one they would recommend e.g 3 or 4 dial code lock or the locking strap? (or possibly both)

I bought 4 locks when we where there in July $6.99 each in Target, for the 4 extra cases i had to buy ,thanks to my DW lol

Hi need suggestions - only 5 days to go until our holiday and can't get hold of these locks for love nor money. Tried both Asda and Tesco, who did ring other stores for me but no joy. Is there another high street retailer who might sell them. Unfortunately only have today as back in work in a small town with no shops Monday to Thursday this week and wouldn't care to rely on the post to order them on-line.

I ordered 2 from saversuk on Friday and they came Saturday, excellent service

could you phone the airport and ask for one of the shops to put some by for you and collect on the day???

Yes, the same with me. Next day service. Try calling them to explain your situation on 0870 382 5089.

Thank you very much for this info - I have placed an order for 3 locks - I will ring them tomorrow (lines not open today) with my order reference number to see if they can prioritise my order so I'll get them in time.

When I came back on Thursday (boo hoo) I asked the TSA guy when we eneterd the airport, if I should use the TSA locks. I showed him ( I have the green & pink ones too).

He said that they were ok, but it would be better and easier if they I left them off as they are opening all bags at least twice!

I left them off -when I eventually got home and opened I could tell that the bags had been opened but nothing was missing.

I was just amazed that they were able to close them again - as we had struggled :goodvibes

Just a quick question about locks and luggage, are you allowed to lock your bags on the way back from the US as last time we were there 2 years ago they told us we had to leave them unlocked so they could be easily searched if needed?

Thanks,

Vick

Bags are to be left unlocked both ways - hence the use of TSA locks :)
Your bags are more likely to be opened leaving the US.

My locks from saversuk arrived today - ordered on Sunday. I also ordered one lock on e-Bay on Sunday as well, just in case and that arrived yesterday, so thanks for the advice - we're sorted.

I've ordered 4 TSA locks from www.safeskieslocks.com, they do them in twin packs for $18.99. I ordered 2 packs, total $37.98 and they don't charge postage if you spend over $15. You can also pay with paypal which makes things alot easier. I emailed them about delivery to the UK and they said about 7 days. I'll let you know when mine arrive

Yay, my locks arrived today. They are great, heavy duty with a 4 digit combination. I recommend these to everyone, they are much better than the smallers tsa locks. They arrived within 7 days all the way from NY.

then what's the point in having locks at all?

It's only flights from the USA (Canada?) when you must not lock your case or risk it being damaged by the security staff. You don't have to use TSA locks on the outbound flight, but I agree with others who say that it is a good idea to do so.

I'm not aware that other routes demand unlocked cases and of course there are still other occasions away from flying when a lock is useful.
