TS Reservations: by phone? by app? by web?

We’re getting close to when we can start making TS reservations for our trip in June. I know, I know, “Silly WDW person, you don’t have to make all of your reservations on the 60th day.” :) Humor me, old habits die hard.

Anyway, my question is, in your experience is there a benefit to making the reservations in the app, versus online, versus calling in? I’ve always done them online at WDW and just kept my ADR numbers in a note on my phone. I’m thinking either way that will be a good idea, since I’ve heard of one off issues with app connectivity in the parks. I’m just curious if anyone has any compelling reason to use or not use any specific method.

Thanks…

I like the app for ease of use. But there's no real difference.

I'm a WDW regular too and honestly, don't worry. Everything I booked I did online just because it's what I prefer. And definitely not at 60 days. I mean, don't wait too long especially if you want a Blue Bayou package for MSEP, but we're going in less than a month and I'm still fiddling with stuff. Still haven't decided which night to book the WOC dessert package, I really need to do that. That one I plan to call so I can pay with a gift card. Only option online is to pay with credit card since it's a prepay.

I like booking them online. I just find it easier to look around than the app. But they do link to the app.

Also wanted to give you the heads up that unlike WDW, you can't book all of them at the 60 day mark of your first day. You'll have to do it day by day or do them all 60 days from your last day. And sometimes reservations are slow to load at the 60 day mark. Does that make sense?

I also like to make my reservations online (via the app or the website; I haven't noticed any major differences in terms of easy of use). I usually make my reservations via the Disneyland.com website and (as mentioned), they've appeared on the app.

Another thing to note, unlike WDW, we don't really know for sure when the system rolls to a new day. It happens somewhere between midnight and 6:00 am, but it doesn't always seem like it's consistent. So I wouldn't worry about being up at a specific time to make a reservation on the 60-day mark (also because of the reason DisneyJamieCA mentioned; they don't always load all of the reservations right at the 60-day mark).

Perfect. Thanks!

Thanks. Yeah, I understand we don't have to obsess, but I probably will at least make our initial reservations pretty close to 60 days, just because I've been waiting for something to do.

We plan to do Blue Bayou, but MSEP is supposed to end before we get there and even if it were to stick around, we're likely not going to do that package because we're not big into the parades. (Other than when my kids marched in them. :teeth:)

I've considered the WOC dessert party, but I'm just not sure about doing that.

Thanks for the heads up, I knew that and have appointments setup for each 60 day point. (yes, I know, overkill)

Thanks for that. I won't worry about setting an alarm, then. :)

The app redirects you to the website where you have to log into the website, even if you were logged into the app. I don't really see any advantage to started with the app if you have access to a computer. If you only have a tablet or phone, I guess it might be a slight shortcut to pull up the place you're trying to reserve from the app instead of finding it on the website.

Actually, now you can do the reservation directly from the app - it doesn't re-route you to the website any more.

I have the Android app and I made an ADR on Sunday, it opened my browser. There is no new version of the app out since Sunday. Maybe it's different in iOS.

As Winnowill said, the app doesn't redirect you anymore.

The app does actually have one benefit I guess, if you don't know where you want to eat, is it let's you put in party number and time and brings up all the options available. The website may as well; I just haven't done it there before.

I just tried to make a dummy reservation at CO using the most recent version of the Android app. I was redirected to my browser.

Also, I noticed that you can't make MSEP and WOC package ADRs in the app, they're not listed.

Just tried it on an iPhone -- the iPhone app does not redirect to a browser. Everything is done in-app.

Interesting, maybe it depends on the phone...I'm using an Android (app version 4.5) and I can make reservations via the app.

When I made our reservations to Carnation Café for early March, I was not redirected to the website, I made the reservation totally in the app and I have a newer Android phone. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was, tbh.

I do think it is true that you cannot make reservations for for the VIP dining packages sometimes is in the app. Other times you totally can. If you are staying onsite, I would actually call. They set aside a certain number of reservations for people in the on site hotels. Also, if you are booking almost 60 days out and something isn't available on the app or website, call. They can at least tell you whether the reservations are all filled or if they have not been released yet. WOC Dessert Party in particular gets released REALLY late sometimes. I have seen it not be released until 30 days out. And on the app, there is no way to tell its not released.

LOL! You are ready to go aren't you. We're all just counting down the days.

We have about 80 days until our June trip, and MSEP will end during our trip.

I guess a month is "getting close" to the 60 day out mark.

Yeah, a month is closer than 6, which is closer than a year, when we started talking about this trip. :teeth:

I didn't read everyone else's comments. Here was my experience. It told me on the app AND online that my first time in the morning was gone already and I was up in the middle of the night doing it on the first day it was available. (Insomniac LOL) So I decided to call and I got my first time of the day no problem.

I will forever call. I'm a huge technology lover, so for me to say that it's a big deal lol

I agree it never hurts to call, but more than likely the times just hadn't been loaded into the online system yet.
