TS meals, not all getting their own meal?

Ok, myself, grandma, DD(3--own food plan). and infant will be in wdw next week,....Im wondering if anyone ever/can you have a reservation and only use 2 out of 3 cfedits? Like, my daughter will order her food but myself and grandma will share an entrée?!? Is that allowed?

Yes, as long as you are not at a buffet, family style or set price meal like CRT or Akershus.

I would suggest reading the following thread about trying to share a meal at Via Napoli when everyone is on the dining plan. If i understand correctly, this is not allowed.

Yes, you would still make a reservation for the number of people that need to be seated.

My understanding is that it's just Via Napoli that doesn't allow sharing. Other TS restaurants that you order from a menu(NOT buffets or set price meals) allow sharing. We did it when we had the DDP and were able to eat at a couple extra places that way, especially since we couldn't possibly eat all that food.

This is one reason, among many, that I'm not crazy about the DDP though. I just want to order what I'd like and not have a bunch of rules associated with it. Every time I figure it out for us, we would save $ by not using the plan anyways. I know it works great for a lot of people though.

As other said, you can split a meal if you are both on the DDP. That would mean split an entree/side and split a dessert. There would only be one drink, however. If someone on the DDP planned to split their meal with someone who was not on the DDP, that would not be allowed. Via Napoli, an outside-owned restaurant, does not allow splitting meals. They are the only one I know with this rule. And they have crazy rules about what pizza, what toppings, and what size pizza you can order using the DDP. Almost not worth it to use your DDP credit there if ordering pizza, IMHO.

Yes, you can share at TS restaurants where you order off a menu. You cannot share and everyone will be charged (except the infant) at buffets, all you care to eat family style meals, the 3 dinner shows (Hoop De Doo, luau, Mickey's Backyard Barbecue), CRT, Akershus, the family platter at Whispering Canyon Cafe, Fantasmic! Dining Package and Candlelight Dining Package.

As noted, Via Napoli has strict limitations on the dining plan. You cannot use 1 credit to feed 2 people. Also, if you want to order pizza, only the individual size can be ordered on the dining plan. You cannot combine credits for a larger size.

Sharing is a good way to stretch credits so that they can be used for additional meals or for 2 credit places.

Yes, you always need to include everyone who will be at the table regardless of age because of fire and safety code rules. The dining plan is a form of payment and has no connection to the group size for the table.
