so I'm not canceling (driveing out tomorrow) BUT I'm also going to prepare in case I am stuck in the resort for a day by bringing some extra food, bottled water, my laptop so I can watch DVDs (hey star wars comes out on Tuesday ) etc. Actually i'm more worried about my drive back since i'll be comeing up the FL,GA eastren coastline.

as for the rain forecast, thats typical September weather in Orlando. If that bothers you then you shouldn't have planed a September trip

Just went through exactly what you all are going through right now, only with Ivan. At the very last minute we decided to go ahead and head to Orlando....What a great decision! We had the best trip ever. Just got back last night. I was worried the first few days, but thankfully Ivan missed us. As for the forecasts of thunderstorms, the weather reports pretty much say that every day for Orlando this time of year, but realistically we only had about 20 minutes of rain every other day for the whole week. It was pretty minimal. Bring your ponchos (we never had to use ours by the way) and try to relax. I know it's hard because I was extremely stressed about Ivan. Just keep watching the weather. Disney will let you know if you need to be concerned once you get there. I'm just so glad we decided to go instead of canceling.

JUST IN!!!!!!

I just got home from picking up my son at school (5pm friday)-on the way home we heard the BEST news-Jeanne is now a tropcial depression and not expected to affect Florida or the US east coast! No, I'm not kidding! I think we may have a winner....

I just heard on the weather channel that Jean will NOT turn into the Atlantic and will most likely make landfall in eastern Florida. The reason being is some high pressure will keep it from doing so.

I just saw it was still a tropical storm with 65 mph. This was the weather channel. Don't put much stock into any news lately so we will see.

The guy on the radio was from the national hurricane center (by phone) mentioned that if you had heard reports from earlier in the day, it wasn't looking good. He said thata he had a BIG smile on his face for two reasons before he even stated what the new "news" was. That was enough for us-we were cheering in our car!

Just under 19 hours for us. We are leaving to drive from VA to FL at 4:00am. Hopefully we'll be lounging in Pop Century's pool by 6:00 pm if the traffic isnt too bad. My dh got a triptik from AAA and they mention a lot of road work and delays, hopefully this wont be the case on a Sunday.
