Ok. Here's my dilemma...We want to book a trip:

STUDIO => DEC 31 - JAN 5th 2004 - 2005 at our home resort, SS.

and also

2BR => JAN 2nd - JAN 7th 2005 at our home resort, SS

DH and I will stay in Studio and family will join us after the new year

ANYWAY, I've been reading how people will call day by day for their reservation so they are sure to get their reservation, but I have yet to make any DVC reservation (new member).

I'm assuming that DEC 31 is going to be difficult to get and I probably shouldn't wait unti FEB 7th 2004 to call for our entire reservation?

Advice?
Help?

What would you do?

For a brand new member, you've got it down correctly! All of Christmas Week and particularly New Year's Eve are "hot tickets". It's better to be "safe than sorry" and to call the first day of your reservation. At that time, you can ask how things look for the rest of the trip and MS may be able to guide you whether you need to continue to call "day by day". With 11 months to play with, the waitlist will probably come through if you are missing a day or two.

So, get ready to call Feb. 2 to begin your reservations (1/31/04 is a Saturday).

Are they used to people doing it this way? It is 'normal'? Do I have to lie to them and say, "No. I only want this one day."?

I'm nervous.:(

I'd agree with the suggestion made by Pam ... but ... keep in mind that only SSR owners may call for that time period at 11 months- and right now, there aren't too many (relatively) SSR owners and that the first four buildings will all be open for the dates you want to reserve. I think you'll be fine to call on February 7 for the whole thing, but I'd still call as Pam suggests to be safe.

Enjoy!!

Yes, that's the way it's done all the time. You can even tell them you will be calling daily for your dates so they don't send out a confirmation for each day.

In this case, the only dates that might be difficult are the 12/31-1/02 dates- the others won't likely be a problem- so you'll already have the challenging dates done with your first call.

Enjoy!

There is really no reason to call day by day with few exceptions that would be your Dec 31 and Jan 1 dates, also if you are trying to book a grand villa I would do day by day. There is one other exception that comes up and that has to do with BWV because they have different charges for different views. Other than those few circumstances there is no reason to call day by day nor should you. Remember other members are trying to get through also.

I've done that the past 2 years for early December BWV standard view. MS even suggested it when I called, they do it all the time. Remember they go by checkout day. So when calling for 12/31, it checks out 1/1, 1/1 checks out 1/2, etc. So on 2/3/04 (Monday) you could call for the nights of 12/31, 1/1 & 1/2.
