Trying to surprise kids with MVMCP - help!

We will be going to the MK on 12/20. In making my PS for the day, it occured to me that MVMCP was being held that night and that the park would be closing early, SO....I bought tickets and planned on surprising my DH and kids (5,8) with them. My question is this: will I need to reveal the secret when we go to the park in the morning (do they inquire whether we are staying for the party and give us a wristband then), or will we have to exit the park at 6 and re-enter for the party? We have a PS at Liberty Tree Tavern around 4'ish, that afternoon, and I was hoping to save the surprise until then.

Can anyone tell me what the procedure is if you are visiting the MK that day and plan to stay in the park until MVMCP that night?

I would think you would be fine suprising them at dinner. We haven't been to MVMCP but we have done MNSSHP. We were there for it in Oct. of this year and if they do it the same, they don't start ushering people out of the park until 6. For MNSSHP you could stay in the park for the hour that it was closed, they just send you into one section of the park. 2 years ago it was Tomorrowland but this past year it was Liberty Square. We had ADR's for LTT and that was the direction they sent us in. We had actually came over from Epcot about 5:30 and they gave us wrist bands as we came in.

Good luck on the surprise. What a great surpise I wish I was going.

No need to tell them in the am....wristbands are given out from 4pm on...enjoy!

Not knowing how this worked, I have debated back and forth on how/when to reveal the surprise. Based on your replies, I will definitely wait until dinner as I had planned. What a wonderful holiday treat it will be!

We went to MVMCP a couple years ago, but had left the park later in the day and came back in the evening after the party started, so I haven't been in this particular situation before. Again, I appreciate you replying - it was very helpful
