Trying to sprinkle some Pixie Dust....

So we've got a big family trip planned this coming August (8 adults, 5 kids from 7 to 9 months), and on our first night one of my inlaws has a room booked at ASM before moving over to our villas at the Beach Club (they're visiting friends on their first night). My family is staying in a studio at BCV that night. Is there any chance I can spread some pixie dust so they can stay at a deluxe without their knowledge? Logisitically speaking, it would be much easier for them to stay at BC with us so they wouldn't have to worry about transferring luggage. What do you think?

Maybe that's what they really want to do, assuming their friends are staying at ASM. Anyway, how would you get them to BCV without telling them? All sorts of logisitcal issues with trying to surprise them.

WHo made their reservation? If they did, you cannot make changes. If you made the reservation, you can change it. If they are using DME, you might need to work at changing that for them. I don't really know if you have to make the tags or if the change magically happens.
I always wrote the change on my tag if my resort changed.
Now this is just my opinion, we travel with my family often. If I made my plans, I would not want changes unless I was included in the discussion, no matter how well meaning.

I played it off that I could use some remaining points in an attempt to upgrade, but it doesn't seem feasible in any way. Oh well...

Even if you could; I wouldn't interfere with a reservation made by someone else. Luggage transfer isn't an issue at all if it were - they are adults they can deal. Bell services will transfer bags, they can uber or taxi and bring them over - we have done it dozens of times.

Offer them the "upgrade" and if they accept great, if not then at least you offered.

Or you could gather up their luggage for them either the night before they change to the BCV or the next morning when they are checking out.
