Trying to schedule a day for rides/shows without lines

Planning to be at Universal Studios FL during Thanksgiving week (including Thanksgiving Day).

There is a current Universal promotion for 1 extra free day if you buy tickets for 2 days.

From the mousesavers website, it seems that you can get in for 2 days of unlimited express passes for every single stay at a Universal property.

So, I was thinking we could spend the first day at Universal doing the rides and shows that don't have long lines and spend that night off site (Holiday Inn is right across the street). On the next day, we could check into the Universal property and spend that day and the next day (check out day) using the express passes. Would that work?

Anyone have experience in the busy season with a plan like this? Can anyone name a bunch of shows/rides that don't have long lines that we could "save" for the day when we have regular tickets without express passes?

Shows also have express pass ,so you may get in, but you get in after the express pass people do( they let them in first).SO you might not have great seats.
Beetlejuice, Animal Actors, Horror makeup , Sindbad are all shows..Horror makeup has a smaller capacity than the others.Blues Brothers do a street show .Terminator and DIsaster have show components but can have long lines.Fear Factor is also a show in a large theater, but whether it will be open when you go is unknown. It wasnt open last January or this August when we went

What about the rides? Could we make a day out of going to rides that typically don't have long lines? Sounds like there is no such thing as "no long lines" at Universal for anything.

Even on the busiest day at Cedar Point, there are at least 8 roller coasters I can think of that won't have much of a line if at all. But the long-wait rides will have an even longer wait.

So, I am just trying to understand whether we can make a schedule where we go to all short-line attractions on the first day (even on a busy day). It doesn't sound like that is possible, in which case we might just have to do the 2 nights.

Although I also wonder whether we really need that third day or not (even if it is a freebie). We don't want to spend the whole day and be tired so I thought we could try to wrap it up every day around 2 (go to the pool and relax) and then come back in the evening, but that would probably require a third day visit.

you could do a search in the forum for info on what others experienced during last years Tday in the parks.

you can pull up last year's threads about it and it might help you better in making a plan.

holidays and weather can bring in more peeps to the parks.
