Hi! I hope this is a good board to ask this question, but if not, let me know and I'll try again somewhere else. :)

I'm trying to pick a wedding date for a 2009 WDW wedding. I live in San Francisco, and overall, the weather here doesn't change a whole lot, so I've become accustomed to it. If it gets into the 80s, I'm sweltering!! So all those months where it gets into the 90s and above are automatically out for me. :goodvibes

The day we picked is April 1st, 2009, but I just looked up holidays for 2009 and saw that Easter falls on April 12 that year, which puts us smack dab in the middle of spring break! How bad are the crowds then? I suspect they're pretty bad, which is making me rethink our decision. Can anyone tell me at what point after Easter the crowds ease up?

Another time we're considering is Christmas time, because I love the holidays at WDW. But I'm not sure when all the decorations and the Spectacle of lights go up. Can someone tell me approximately when? I'm hoping it's before Thanksgiving, but I'm not sure.

Does anyone have a favorite time of year, other than Christmas, when the weather is on the cooler side?

Thanks in advance!! :upsidedow

Moved your post here,I think the experts on this board can help you.:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

Ahh, thanks :) - I already post here, so I guess we can lock it. I was trying to get the opinions of people who travel there year round, so I know weather and crowd patterns. Here seems to be more for planning the details of the wedding.

Hi There as a disney at Christmas time freak I have to tell you the week after Thanksgiving is beautiful!! Not too crowded and the weather is beautiful. Disney has the most awesome decorations so you can take advantage of that and save money on your floral and decorations!!!!:santa:

Yes, trust momofbride, because she is indeed a Christmas at Disney freak! She makes me so jealous cause I've never been to Disney at Christmas time. :sad1:

Pezalicious, I've been in WDW in January, March, April, May, June, July, August, October, November, and December. I've been there for Easter, Memorial Day, Halloween, Christmas, and New Year's, too.

In regards to the holidays, I've noticed that in the days leading up to them, the crowds grow with each passing day. They're the worst, of course, on the actual holiday. In the days afterwards, the crowds diminish with each passing day. So, to help avoid the holiday crowds, consider picking a date at least two weeks prior to or at least two weeks after a holiday.

You asked about the Christmas decorations. They're normally up before Thanksgiving, and they usually don't come down until a few days after New Year's Day.

One last thought about the holidays. If you want to hold your event on an actual holiday, it normally will cost you more. Check with the FTW folks to see what holidays have premium pricing (Valentine's Day, New Year's Day, etc.).

Janet, that's a great tip, thanks! I thought a week after Easter would be good, but I'm glad to know 2 is better.

With as much as I love the holidays at WDW, I know I'll be there for them a year from now, so I think an April wedding will still be what's best for us, especially with my need to avoid the hottest months, and our desire to not have our wedding date in the middle of the busy gift period (his b-day, Christmas, my b-day, and Valentine's).

I've been to WDW 3 times, once during Spring Break in college (years ago) and twice with kids -- both times in April. We are planning to go again in April 2009 -- 10 days to 2 weeks AFTER Easter each time and we think it is best. We've had fabulous weather (high 70's/low 80's) and just a sprinkle of rain each time. Crowds are manageable.

Do you have a particular day of the week that you want your wedding? I would think that would be part of the equation as well. You do have to watch for special events going on in the parks -- during April there are some Grad Nights, so you may want to ask about that.

Happy Wedding planning!!!! We'll watch for you when we are there in April 2009!

P.S.. My DS10 collects Pez!!!

Think about Jan, but plan around the marathon, and MLK day. That is our challenge this year. We can't go for my bday b/c my b-day is the marathon! Good luck to all of you who are running that!!!

How's the end of March? We were thinking of getting married around the very end of the month like around the 29th? how is it weather wise, and crowd wise?
Thanks for your help.
