I'm vegetarian, DFI is not. He's a meat and potatoes kind of guy but will venture out and try new things every now and then. We've never been to Cali Grill and I think I want to try it just for the experience, but I have read a lot of not so favorable reviews and the menu online doesn't look particularly accommodating of vegetarians. I'm now trying to decide between Artist Point and Cali Grill. Honestly, the menu at Artist Point looks more enticing, but we've never done Cali Grill.... opinions?

Cali Grill is wonderful. Not sure about vegetarian but I am sure they could come up with something delicious.

We have not been to AP so I am not sure.

I've not been to Artist Pointe before so I chose California Grill. We love California Grill (although Citricos should also be mentioned) and they should be able to whip you up a lovely vegetarian meal without any problem.

Have you looked into Jiko at all? I think there is enough on their menu to give both of you quite a few options. Not to mention that the atmosphere is much nicer/romantic than CG and AKL is a fantastic resort to visit if you haven't seen it yet.:thumbsup2

Artist Point seems to be the signature that most people haven't tried. I've been to all of the signatures many times, and Artist Point is currently my favorite. The vegetarian entree there is always delicious, and I love the Pacific Northwest inspiration (very seasonal ingredients, such as mushrooms, seafood from the Pacific, buffalo, berries in the desserts, etc). The dining room is very tranquil and serene.

That said, California Grill is my second favorite signature. It's noisy, but the food is consistent, and the view is great. Normally, my opinion is much more polarized, but between these two restaurants, I don't think you can go wrong.

I agree: you can't go wrong with these choices

Also, generally, the signatures will have other vegetarian ideas. You can say "I don't love the veggie option tonight -- any other choices or ideas available?" and most of the time, they will do a great job of finding something you like (subject to what ingredients they have of course).

Artist Point is one of the best meals I've ever eaten. DH took me there when we were dating and we are both VERY excited to be going back there again on our trip over the summer. That said, I'm bummed that the dish I got is not on the menu during the summer... atleast that berry cobbler is... its our most favorite dessert ever. We might need to get TWO!

Loved, loved California Grill. Had a 730pm reservation this past March. The food was amazing. My husband is allergic to shellfish and our server spent alot of time going over all the menu items and letting my husband know what he could and could not eat. We also had our 2 kids who are a bit fussy when it comes to certian foods. I am a meat an potatoes girl and the oakfired filet was amazing. We got to see Wishes as well. It was our last nights dinner and was awesome!!!

I would say Jiko as well. They have a whole vegetarian menu and they also make the BEST filet mignon. :)

The service and the atmosphere are wonderful, I think you'll love it! Check out the menu on allears.net

I don't think you can wrong with either one. That said, I prefer Cali Grill, but I've been there many times, so they have had more opportunity to shine. I've only been to AP once, and although it's not my favorite signature, I would not hesitate to return.

While I have never tried Jiko, it's on my bucket list....

I am a HUGE fan of Cali Grill. It's beautiful, I love the view, and it's a nice classy night out. I am a picky eater, but love a good steak, and this is second only to Le Cellier for best dinner I've ever had in my life. Amazing wines too.

I went this January with my friend who is vegetarian, and it was her favorite dinner of the week too (and that included 3 signatures and Emeril's Tchop Chop).

You really can't go wrong with either... and Jiko should also certainly be an option. However, it is not uncommon - as a matter of fact, usually quite common - for people to make "special requests" at Cali Grill... and they are always more then accommodating ! (I'm sure the other two choices also are !)

I prefer California Grill, but you really can't wrong with either.
