Trying to help my daughter

My DD is rather new to the VMK scene and I told her I would ask the people at the DIS for assistance, because I know you are the experts.

She has tried doing some quests (High School musical), but she can't get by the 2nd question (yell the colors). There are no selections and when we speak in the mic, nothing happens. Are we doing something wrong?

Also, she is has been trying to trade for the golden Mickey ears and princess crown, but she does not have much to offer (3 boxes, underwater organ, teacup, Jafar hat, etc.) How does one earn good items to trade and how does one earn magic?

Any assistance would be VERY appreciated!

Vmk occasionaly sell rare items, and usually when they do you stock up on them and trade them when they are no longer on sale. You need to work yourself up they trade-chain (my name for it), once she is on for a while it will be easier.

AS far as the quests go, there is a wealth of information located in the sticky at the top of teh main VMK board> Read Mal's player's guide and i think you will the answers to the quests that you need

Additionally, you just need to TYPE OUT the colors, either red and white or white and red, either will do.
In my opinion, the HSM quest is sort of difficult for a beginner, I'd recommend that she try the Dive Suit quest in Tomorrowland first or maybe a Player-created quest, Dizpinfriend's one is great.

Yea, like everyone said, you can find most of the quest answers all in the players guide sticky at the top of the VMK section of the DIS. As far as getting rare goes, it's not as easy as it sounds. Living close to the parks or taking annual trips to the Disney parks and doing the in-park quests (which are on hold for now though) is certainly a great way to get good rare and trade-friendly items. Another way takes a little more effort, but it's the way I use since I have only been to a park once and that was before VMK times. This way involves buying the weekend pins/ sometimes weekend furniture, buying a lot, and hoarding it until it is in popular demand. This technique especially works for holiday items such as Halloween and Christmas items as well as hats that come out (and your in luck, because in February we have new hat on sale for one day each week). This of course takes patience as well as time as you need to gain the credits you use to purchase said items, but this way has always worked for me.

I just want to add.. that make sure your daughter understands that there are lots of "bad" people out there. Meaning, that if your daugher has something they want, they may try to scam her by saying "can I borrow that.. we can be friends and I'll give it back" ... the answer is always NO. Even a grown girl like me fell for that when I first started (not once.. .but twice!!) I lost my crown twice by being too nice. While there are many nice good people in the game.. do be careful of the few out there trying to prey on little kids or new players. I want to thank everyone for their advice. TikiKrissy was kind enough to give my daughter the princess outfit and piano. She was very happy, but now she is in search of the Golden Mickey ears. I told her to be patient, earn points, win quests and build things up.
