Hi - We are new to Disneyland - have not been for decades and so much has changed! Tried to book into the Grand but for the dates we have they said no room at the inn for all the dates. How much of a hassle is it to move between resorts at Disneyland?

Thanks!

There is no trouble whatsoever. They are so close, it's just a matter of minutes. FYI - in Anaheim they really aren't "resorts" per se, they are hotels, nothing like it is in WDW.

All three hotels are less than a five minute walk from one another, you'll have no trouble moving between them!

Did you try to book your rooms for the GCH online? Sometimes the web site will say no rooms available but if you call the reservation desk , they might have something. Also, try again everyday during the two weeks before your date, sometimes rooms become available because of cancellations

I forgot to say, I called the Disneyland Hotel a couple of weeks ago trying to make a reservation and they initially came up with no rooms available for the week I'm there, but the reservation agent ran it as a package. When he tried searching again for room only, available rooms came up! So you definitely may want to call and try your luck that way.

I'd second trying by calling... I can't imagine they are booked solid six months out... Unless you are trying the impossible... 6 people in a room or something?

Just knock on the door three times, spin around twice, no actually three times as well. Then shake it all about, while signing Swanee River. Works like a charm everytime. Believe me, I know. :)

If by any chance they are going during Avengers Half Marathon weekend, it's possible.

Tried to do the math but I just got back from a run and running-mind doesn't work with math-mind. Not even "counting on a calendar" mind. :)

Yes - we r going during a marathon weekend but good news is that I did take everyone's advice and called and was able to get into the Grand for a few nights!!!

I was wondering if they use the same call center for DW and DL since the CM I spoke to seemed to be very inconvenienced by my request and went on about all the changes she had to make. So much in fact that I did not want to ask if there were openings for 3 nights rather than the two I initially asked about. I know that we have made changes to our reservations in DW before and the CM's were most accommodating. Oh well - at least we got into the Grand!!

Sista, I am so sorry thecast member on the phone call seemed inconvenienced by your changes. That is his/her job…to take care of reservations and try to make you happy. What a terrible experience. Call back and see if another cast member can give you better service and answer your questions.

I worked for a major airline in a call center and that kind of customer service was unacceptable to our managers. I would assume it is the same at Disney. After leaving the airline I was a travel agent. Rule #1 we had….if you don't like the answer a customer service agent gives you for a reasonable request….call back and talk to another one. Sometimes we would go through three or four calls…but somehow things would work out the way we wanted.

Don't let a rude CM change your trip from what you want it to be. It is their SIMPLE job to make sure you can book the nights you want if available, and THAT's IT.

Thanks PixieDustD! I am thinking about calling back and I will take your advice and call back if I run into a problem.

mgd-I appreciate your feedback - just wasn't sure if I was asking a bit too much by wanting to change my reservation. We may never get to DisneyLand again and really want to make the best of the time we have there. Thanks!!

Several years ago I called every day to get 7 nights in a row at the Grand when they had a great AP rate. When I was down to just the last day in the middle, I finally got a CM that first said there was no room and when I explained I was trying to get all my nights at the Grand, she asked me to hold and came back with the room! Sounds like you got someone that was not having a great day. (No excuse) Definitely call back and see what they can do :) Also, you can check other sites (get away today, orbitz, etc) as they may have rooms when the hotel does not.

No, you caught someone on a bad day. Hopefully she got her magic back.
